Assassin's Creed: Odyssey sebagian besar dikembangkan oleh Ubisoft Quebec, yang sebelumnya juga telah mengerjakan game Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Konsep awal untuk game ini muncul pada tahun 2015 setelah selesainya rilis Syndicate. Dengan visi untuk mengembangkan konsep Assassin's Creed menjadi "lebih RPG", inspirasi diambil dari game-game lain seperti The Witcher 3, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, dalam segi ide player-choicenya. Odyssey menggunakan banyak teknologi grafis yang sama dengan Assassin's Creed: Origins. Odyssey secara resmi diumumkan sebelum acara E3 2018, pada tanggal 1 Juni 2018.

ABOUT

Game ini akan mengisahkan cerita dengan latar belakang Yunani Kuno pada tahun 431 Sebelum Masehi tentang sejarah Peloponnesian Waryang merupakan perang antar kota-kota bagian di zaman Yunani Kuno. Protagonis yang akan kita mainkan adalah seorang mercenary yang bernama Alexios atau Kassandra yang bisa memilih untuk berpihak kepada Atena dan Delian League ataupun Sparta dan Peloponnesian League. Segmen Modern-Day di game Assassin's Creed kali ini akan kembali mengikuti kisah Layla Hassan, yang sebelumnya telah diperkenalkan pada Origins. Alur cerita pada Odyssey dikabarkan akan berkisah tentang Freedom vs Order.

GAMEPLAY

Odyssey uses a lot of the gameplay and interface mechanics of Origins, including the radial compass, and the return of a bird that can survey the landscape, spot treasure, and highlight and harass enemies.

The game featured RPG elements, including dialogue options, branching quests, multiple possible endings, romance options, and the ability to select between a male or female protagonist. Reportedly, the game is a "full RPG", and will push the franchise into this genre. Both Alexios and Kassandra follow the same story. Romance options remain the same regardless of the character chosen. Gear can be selected, and is classified by rarity. Each piece of gear can be enhanced with engravings. Players also have access to a skill tree, and can follow a "branch" to better suit their play-style. Compared to Origins, the skill tree is more clear cut in Odyssey, and players can unlock high-tier versions of pre-existing skills. In combat, the hit-box system for enemies is used again.

The game world has been described as the "biggest one yet" for the franchise. Environments range from forests, to mountains, to beaches. Players will have access to a boat, used to sail the Aegean Sea in a similar manner as the ships in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Rogue. Crew can be recruited, and in a sense, it serves as a mobile hub. Sharks can be found in the seas, which will attack the player as well as their enemies. "Legendary animals" can be hunted on land.

The Sparta-Athens divide is represented in-game with a red or blue border along each region to indicate which of the city-states has control. If one city-state leader is weakened, other faction leaders will invade their state. Players can find themselves as the target of bounties, which can come about from actions such as killing civilians, and they will be hunted on the sea. The player will also take part in mass-battles, some of which are story-relevant, while others are optional.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey memang berlatar-belakang cerita pada zaman Yunani Kuno yang terjadi pada tahun 431 BCE (Sebelum Masehi), jadi memang beberapa ratus tahun sebelum Bayek dan Aya mendirikan Assassin Order, itulah kenapa sudah jelas tidak ada jejak para Assassin sama sekali di game ini. Mereka memang tidak ada di zaman tersebut. Terus sebelah mananya donk yang disebut Assassin's Creed?

Walaupun ini masih dibilang teori, tapi kemungkinan kita akan banyak menemukan jejak dari First-Civilizationdi game ini, juga kita akan menyaksikan bagaimana lahirnya Templar Order. Dan memang ada kemungkinan pada game ini kita sebenarnya bermain sebagai Templar, seperti pada Assassin's Creed: Rogue.

Odyssey akan lebih fokus pada unsur Role-Playing-Game-nya. Odyssey creative director Jonathan Dumont mengatakan bahwa game ini “akan mengarahkan seri Asssassin's Creed ke arah RPG sepenuhnya.” Dia juga mengambil inspirasi dari beberapa game BioWare, dan menanamkan unsur-unsur RPG-nya pada Odyssey. Termasuk sistem dialog multiple choice, quest yang bercabang, dan beberapa ending yang berbeda dan bahkan bisa menjalin romance dengan beberapa karakter.

Belum nyoba pake yg Alexios, tapi untungnya Odyssey ini punya fitur ngesave manual sama quicksave jadi gampang klo mau nyoba ganti karakter
