The Day I Died My Bully Begged Chapter 01
During PE class, I crouched on the ground, clutching my chest and gasping for air.
My homeroom teacher kicked me in the back, her face full of disdain.
"Why are you playing innocent?
Telling such lies just to skip class?"
The surrounding classmates burst into laughter, all enjoying the joke of me being a pathetic simp.
My face was deathly pale as I shakily pointed to the heart-relief pills in my pocket.
But the school beauty beat me to it, crushing the pill bottle under her foot before clinging to Alexander Hayes's arm and whining.
"Alexander, look at her, putting on another act for attention."
Alexander stopped playing basketball and stared at me coldly.
"Don't embarrass me. Don't even think about going home until you finish the five thousand meters."
A violent spasm of pain twisted my heart, my vision blurred, and I collapsed onto the rubber track.
Before my consciousness faded, I used my last ounce of strength to call Eleanor Hayes, Alexander's mother.
"Eleanor, I won't be able to deliver Alexander's birthday gift. I'll repay your life debt in the afterlife."
Anxious shouts from Eleanor came through the phone, but I could no longer hear them.
The phone slipped from my fingertips, hitting the rubber track with a smack, its screen shattering.
My vision plunged into complete darkness. It felt as if an invisible giant hand had brutally crushed my heart. After the agonizing pain came a deathly silence.
But I didn't disappear.
I felt my body grow light, floating in mid-air.
I looked down at myself, curled up on the track with a livid, bruised face.
Dead.
Chloe Bennett, you are finally free.
"Hey!
Chloe!
How long are you going to play dead?"
The shrill voice of my homeroom teacher, Sarah Johnson, pierced through the noise of the sports field.
Wearing high heels, she strode over to my corpse, raised her foot, and kicked me viciously in the waist once again.
Once, twice.
"Don't think lying on the ground will get you out of the five thousand meters!
I'm telling you, even if God himself came down today, you still have to finish the run!"
My corpse jolted limply with her kicks.
The surrounding classmates formed a circle, watching the scene like a circus act.
No one stepped forward to stop her; someone even whistled.
"Teacher, Chloe's acting could win an Oscar!"
"Exactly. She's really going all out to get Ms. Hayes's attention. The ground is so dirty."
Outside the crowd, Alexander stood holding a basketball, his brows tightly furrowed, his eyes full of disgust.
Shiloh Williams clung to his arm, laughing wildly, while her other foot stepped on the pile of crushed pill powder, grinding it hard.
"Alexander, look at her, she's so persistent.
She's even using this pity play just to get you to look at her."
Shiloh's voice was sickeningly sweet, slithering into my ears like a venomous snake.
Alexander sneered coldly and smashed the basketball hard against the ground.
The basketball bounced up, grazing the scalp of my corpse, and slammed heavily into the chain-link fence nearby.
"Chloe, I'll count to three."
Alexander's voice was as cold as crushed ice.
"Three."
"Two."
"One."
The "me" on the ground remained completely motionless.
Alexander's patience completely ran out. He strode over, grabbed my corpse by the collar, and hauled half my body up.
"Are you fucking deaf?
I told you to get up!"
My head drooped limply to the side, eyes wide open, staring blankly at a point in the void.
It was the classic look of someone dying with unclosed eyes.
But Alexander acted as if he were blind, completely ignoring my ashen face and my chest that had stopped rising.
He shook my body violently, the force so great it nearly rattled my bones apart.
"Stop faking it!
You think acting like this will make me feel sorry for you?
Chloe, these cheap tricks of yours only make me sick!"
Floating in the air, I watched the man I had loved for ten years vent his fury on a corpse.
Feel sorry?
Alexander, you certainly won't feel sorry.
Because the dead don't need anyone's sympathy.
