Unforgetful Lussanne, Beautiful City at the Shore of Lake Geneve
Embarking on my journey on April 3rd, 2024, I boarded a Fly Emirates flight from Jakarta bound for Dubai, with a transfer onward to Zurich, Switzerland. The anticipation of adventure filled the air as I settled into my seat, ready to embark on a new chapter of exploration.
Opting for convenience and charm, I decided to spend a night inLausanne, a city I’d already explored back in 2018. Since the city is so charming and full of mystery I really like to come back again. The train ride from Zurich to Lausanne took a comfortable 2 hours and 47 minutes, allowing me to enjoy scenic views along the way.
Lausanne greeted me with its youthful energy, bustling with university students and young professionals. The city’s cleanliness and fresh air set the stage for a pleasant stay, reaffirming why it’s one of the major cities along Lake Geneve.
For accommodation, we chose the Swiss Hotel and Wine By Fassbind, strategically located just a 10-minute stroll from the central tourist area. Thanks to our Swiss Pass Ticket, transportation within Switzerland was easy, and exploring Lausanne was both convenient and cost-free.

Arriving at our hotel Swiss Wine by Fassbind, we were greeted with spacious, immaculate accommodations. The view from our room overlooking Rue de Langallerie offered a charming glimpse into city life, yet the atmosphere remained remarkably serene.
We stay at 2 nights there in Lausanne. During our stay in Lausanne, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Château St-Maire, a magnificent structure that stood tall with its impressive blend of bricks and stone. As we approached, its grandeur took our breath away.
The sheer size of the castle was awe-inspiring, and its elevated position offered panoramic views stretching all the way to Lake Geneva and the bustling port of Lausanne below. From this vantage point, we were treated to a spectacular vista, with the shimmering waters of the lake contrasting against the urban landscape of the city.
Exploring the grounds of Château St-Maire, we marveled at its rich history and architectural beauty. Each corner revealed new surprises, from hidden courtyards to towering turrets, all steeped in centuries of tradition and heritage.
Standing beneath the imposing walls of the castle, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of reverence for the centuries of history that had unfolded within its walls. It was a moment of reflection, a reminder of the enduring legacy of Lausanne and its storied past.
As the day drew to a close, we regretfully passed by the Cathedral of Lausanne, its magnificent facade illuminated by the fading light of dusk. Though we couldn’t enter due to its closing time, we lingered nearby, soaking in the majestic aura of this historic landmark.

With nightfall approaching, we decided to explore the surrounding area and stumbled upon a nearby Lidl supermarket, a convenient spot to pick up some essentials (cheaper than Coop). Stocked up snacks and breads and ready for the next leg of our journey, we returned to our hotel to recharge for the adventures awaiting us the next day.
Excitement as we anticipated our trip to the charming towns of Morges and Nyon, with the added bonus of crossing over to France to visit the picturesque village of Yvoire. With new sights to see and experiences to cherish, we drifted off to sleep, eager for the adventures that awaited us on the horizon.
