esRadio is a national radio station in Spain. It operates on frequency 99.1 MHz, and has a broadcasting station in Madrid. As a member of the multimedia group of Libertad Digital, es Radioprovides high quality programs, news, and music. The station broadcasts in more than thirty points in Spain. It is also available online.
RNE's second network was established in 1965, using FM transmitters. This network focused on music. The channel was inaugurated in Toledo in 1971. In addition to transmitting in Spanish, the RNE also retransmits news bulletins from Germany and Italy's official radio stations.
The first radio station was established by the state in Salamanca on 19 January 1937. The station's headquarters were moved to Madrid in 1940. The RNE's first transmitter was built by Telefunken, and was gifted to the Spanish government by the Third Reich. This transmitter had a broadcasting power of 20 kW. This transmitter gave RNE full coverage of Spain and Europe at night.
