Battlefield 2042 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by video game developer EA DICE and Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts. It is a direct sequel to 2013's Battlefield 4, with a fictional story taking place during the "War for Mankind" in the year 2042. The title is to be released on 22 October, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S. The trailer was released on YouTube on 9 June 2021, featuring a variety of new maps based in East Asia and the Middle East. The gameplay trailer is scheduled to be released on 13 June 2021.
