Differences That Can Be Made from Meatless Monday
Have you ever heard of Meatless Monday? It is an international movement where it is encouraging people to not consume any meat for at least once a week. It's called Meatless Monday because researchers say that a lot of people think Monday as a reset point, and most likely to start a new healthy behavior on that day. This idea was first introduced to the world when World War 1 was happening, and later on revived in 2003 by Sid Lerner as a non-profit public health initiative. Today, this campaign is supported by millions of people around the world. Even though it is a simple concept, it actually can make a big difference in our lives. It sounds very skeptical, how can one day make any difference, well let's dig more information.

We cannot deny the fact that on a daily basis, we are using so much water, but did you know that to produce meat can take about 50 times more water than plant-based food, you can save about 133 gallons of water with each meatless meal. Other than that, we can also save our planet, because according to the world resources institute, UN food and agriculture organization, animal agriculture are contributing about 18% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, it is seems like a small number, but it can lead into a bigger number anytime soon, but when you are eating more vegetables, approximately it can lower that percentage in 3-5 times. Last but surely not least, you can prevent billions of animals from being factory farmed. Animals are just a silent victim, most of them are being abused and they are suffering, we can say that, if you reduce your meat consumption, you are basically saving their lives.

Now, we have talked about what is Meatless Monday, then we talked about the differences that can be made by it, then what is it for us, what are the benefits of doing that. Well, there are tons of benefits you can get from Meatless Monday, such as, it can reduce your risk of: heart disease, obesity, cancer, diabetes, stroke just only one day, imagine if you do it for years. Also, by going meatless once a week you've saved some money for spending on groceries, you can use that money for something more important. Even better, you are 8 pounds less than average people, you can get that body goal as soon as possible.

Maybe after reading all of that fact above makes you want to join this campaign, and you probably think it will be really tough to eat limited food. Well, I have some tricks and trips for you to participate in Meatless Monday. Start with just one meal per a week that does not include any meat in it, try using veggies with different textures so you don’t even realize that the meat is missing. Second, be more generous with your eggs, many people feel like their meals aren’t complete without a main dish of protein. However, we can expel that feeling by working more eggs into your dinner dishes. Incorporate some egg into your veggies, you would be surprised at how much you can do with eggs and how great they taste in a variety of dishes. Lastly, experiment with ethnic cuisines. Not every culture focuses so heavily on meat. For Example, some of Thailand, China, Greece’s most popular meals don’t even use meat or only contain it in small amounts. Get a little more daring and delve into ethnic cuisines. Chances are you’ll be exposed to a variety of seasonings and spices that bring a lot of extra flavor to your meals, even without the meat.

You see, Meatless Monday is so beneficial, even though you are decreasing your meat consumption once a week, it can make a huge difference, not only for yourself, but also other people like your family, friends, animal lives, and the bigger deal, our planet. I'm not forcing you to do it immediately, and I'm not telling you how you should live your life, but you need to consider how this little concept can change the world. Not all heroes wear masks and a cape, be that hero with this movement.
