(No SARA+++) Bali dan Jogja Ternyata Tertinggal Dalam Bidang Ini, Gan
Jogja has a big number of people who cannot read and write. This is spectacular thing happen in that province despite high enrollment in school. If we see the number of illiterate in Jogja, most of them are in rural area and above 60 years. I bet the number exceed 100,000 elderly that cannot read and write.
Meanwhile in another tourist destination, Bali, the number also spectacular. In many regencies, more than 10 percent of population cannot read and write. It's strange if we remember that Bali is one of the most prosperous province in Indonesia.
So, there should be an unseen problem there. The young people in Bali can tell to people that they get education for granted. Graduate from high school is just normal for them. But look to another regencies outside the capital city make it become still unjust this thing happen.
We should accept this fact as reality. We sometimes forget about Bali and Jogja problem about literacy. We still care just about Eastern Indonesia. Yes their illiterate number are high but Bali and Jogja also. Isn't it become strange that the most visited place in Indonesia still home to hundred of thousand of people that can not read and write.
I think there should be serious movement in Jogja and Bali. So we need to do something in order to lowering the number.
