Since 2017, German authorities have reversed their welcoming stance towards Muslim refugees. Whereas in 2015 people would wave and cheer on refugees arriving in German train stations, in 2017 the popular mood has taken a big swing to the right. There were, of course, multiple terrorist attacks in and near Germany and 2016 and 2017 which caused this, and every week German police are arresting or finding links to Islamist terror cells on native soil.

Already from the election result, it was clear that the German population will not stand for this anymore when 15% of them voted for the anti-Islam party AfD. Chancellor Angela Merkel, still engulfed in tough negotiations to form a government, will therefore not like the latest story police have made public.

Mr. Burkhard Freier, the head of the North Rhine-Westphalian Office for the Protection of the Constitution, told reporters that his services had identified an Islamist extremist network indoctrinating their children of Salafist beliefs within Germany. The group, consisting of some 40 females, would meet to discuss how to raise children, how to cook ingredients, how to interpret the rules of Islam and stir up hatred against so-called "non-believers."

Every terrorist on European soil in recent years has been a member of the Salafist scene, which holds a very radical interpretation of Islam.

Mr. Freier said his services believed the women indoctrinated their children at a very early age: "Salafism has become a family affair."

The report adds to the beliefs that more Islamist cells are being operated in Germany itself, as security forces have also identified multiple Muslim women and young people as potential risks to domestic security.

As a result, Mr. Freier stated furthermore, you would end up with something "much more difficult to dissolve, namely Salafist pockets within society."
