Japan's exports to China reached 1.11 trillion yen, or US$10 billion in May, increasing nearly 24 percent over the same period last year.

It has made China the largest export destination country for Japan again after two years and nine months.

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, the substantial growth was mainly promoted by the sales of liquid crystal components and semiconductor manufacturing equipment as global smartphone demand increases, Sina News reported.

The export volume of Japan to US rose 11 percent year-on-year to US$970 million thanks to the sales of automobiles and related parts. But the growth rate of new car sales to US has continued to decline in 2017.

Chief economist for Mizuho Securities Yasunari Ueno said that more and more Japanese enterprises will tend to reduce export to US in coping with the Trump government's trade protectionism.
