CCTV has caught the dramatic moment a truck carrying watermelons smashed through a toll booth in China.

The vehicle turned over following the crash at Guozigou, a tourist resort in Ili in the north-west Xinjiang territory.

Most of the watermelons were left scattered on the road after the truck rammed through the gate.

The truck driver and a passenger were both taken to hospital.

The motorist was tired and the brakes were faulty, according to a preliminary investigation.
