Eighteen years and three PlayStations later, Final Fantasy VII is getting a remake. A real one. For PlayStation 4, with other platforms to follow.

Square Enix announced the news during Sony’s press conference at E3 tonight, following a day full of rumors. “Play it first on PlayStation,” read the trailer, implying that it’ll be out for PC and Xbox One too.

RPG fans have been clamoring for a remake of Final Fantasy VII sincS E N S O R. well, since the release of Final Fantasy VII. It’s become something of a longrunning joke, with Square Enix coming up with new dodges and excuses any time anyone asked why it hadn’t happened yet... so this is surreal, to say the least.
