ZURICH, KOMPAS.com- Penembakan yang terjadi di Swiss dikabarkan menyebabkan sejumlah orang tewas. Dilansir dari Reuters, penembakan itu terjadi di kota Wuerenlingen, wilayah Aargau, Sabtu (9/5/2015) malam waktu setempat.

Sumber polisi pada Minggu (10/5/2015) menjelaskan, salah seorang petugas polisi yang bertugas telah melaporkan bahwa ditemukan sejumlah jenazah di dalam dan luar gedung yang berfungsi sebagai tempat tinggal.

Polisi belum memberikan penjelasan mengenai alasan dan kronologi terjadinya penembakan. Kasus ini masih dalam penyelidikan.Tidak hanya itu, polisi juga belum mengungkap berapa jumlah korban tewas. Saat ini baru diketahui informasi bahwa semua korban tewas adalah orang dewasa.

Menurut keterangan polisi kepada radio lokal, pelaku penembakan diduga menjadi salah satu jenazah itu. Wuerenlingen merupakan sebuah kota kecil di dekat Zurich. Peristiwa ini sontak mengagetkan kota yang memiliki jumlah penduduk sekitar 4.500 orang itu.

Eight people are feared dead in a massshooting after a gunman opened fire ina tiny town in northern Switzerland.

At least five are thought to have been killed in the bloodbath which was triggered by a family dispute, according to Swiss police.

Among them is the gunman who is believed to have turned the gun on himself after going on the killing spree.

But the death toll is feared to be as high as eight after the killer - who was known to victims - opened fire at a home in Wuerenlingen.

Residents in the town in Aargau state contacted police after hearing at least six shots fired late last night.

One neighbour, who would not be named, told20 Minuten: 'There were three explosions. The noise was so loud I felt like it was coming from the room next door to me.' 'I saw two people fall down dead,' another shocked local told Blick.

ch 'I heard four shots - all in quick succession. Then a short time was calm before I again heard at least two shots. I heard no screams.

'When officers arrived, just after 11pm, they found a group of 'several' people lying dead outside a house. Further victims were also discovered inside the property. They are now working to identify the victims - all of whom were adults.

Canton (state) Aargau police spokesman Bernard Graser told the BBC that the motive appears to have been a family dispute and the case is not terror-related. 'This is an exceptionally terrible crime, atypical for such a tranquil residential area,' he told 20 Minuten, but stressed that children were 'at no time in danger.

'An investigation is now underway and the Canton Aargau police are preparing to announce further details later this afternoon.

The incident has shocked the residents of Wuerenlingen, a town of some 4,500 people northwest of Zurich, near the German border.

It took place just a few hundred metres from the scene of the last multiple murder which rocked the small town when on 13 December 1985, a real estate agent had killed the lover of his wife and two prostitutes. The murderer was sentenced to 20 years in prison.



Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world. The majority of Swiss men are conscripted into the militia from the age of 20 where they undergo weapons training.

Militia soldiers are required to keep their own personal equipment, including all personally assigned weapons, at home. Army issued ammunition is generally not allowed although privately bought bullets are permitted.

The result is that Switzerland has a unique set of gun politics and one of the highest private ownership in the world. In recent times a minority of political opposition has expressed a desire for tighter gun regulations and Switzerland held a referendum in February 2011 for stricter controls although this was defeated.
