Vietnam reveals fourth TT400TP patrol vessel

Images published on Vietnamese internet forums suggest that the Hong Ha Shipbuilding Company in Hai Phong has begun builder's sea trials of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) Navy's fourth TT400TP-class patrol boat.

The vessel (pennant number HQ 275) is reported to have been photographed on the Cam River in early September 2014, with a mix of military and civilian personnel embarked.

According to specifications provided in Vietnamese state media reports on the commissioning of HQ 274, each TT400TP-class vessel is armed with two 14.5 mm air-defence guns, one AK 176 76 mm automatic cannon, and one radar-guided, six-barrelled 30 mm AK 630 close-in weapon system (CIWS) turret. Photographs of the fourth TT400TP craft suggest that the AK 630 turret is mounted towards the vessel's aft section.

According to IHS Jane's Fighting Ships , the TT400TP boats have a top speed of 32 kt and can attain a standard range of 2,500 n miles at a speed of 15 kt. The vessels can carry a crew of 35.

On 2 June, IHS Jane's reported that the PAVN had taken delivery of the third vessel in the class. The class as a whole is understood to be made up of an initial three hulls with the expectation of a further five to come.

The commissioning date for the fourth vessel is not yet known.
