Before becoming a great general - you must be an unknown soldier
*Intro
IN VIETNAM. Unlike the way people think about the Communist country - We (Vietnam ) absolutely not have any preference to the army (Especially infantry ) . We don't have much money - so we have to prioritize what is most important : Economic development and building schools, roads and power systems for remote areas -The army was never a top priority - and I like that
Military forces are provided high-quality rice at low prices from the government - But the other food sources such as vegetables and meat provided only limited (Half demand) . If you think " Why do they only provide half the demand for soldiers?They are insane or what?" I say "It's a way to train" - It is a way of training physical, discipline and teamwork-and it is really effective.
They help the young soldiers know how to work collectively , help them gain experience in life , especially to help them close to the people - who also works at the nearby field. "We are "People's Army of Vietnam" - we was created between the people of Vietnam - we are not strangers, we also work like you,also sweat to feed ourselves" - That is our message
Like I said , We have to grow vegetables and raise cattle to ensure our food sources. Like this
Normally, we don't have many soldiers like that in the field Very Happy
and here are the results that we have made
The national defense education
My country is a peace-loving nation. We went through alot of wars for over 200 years : The First World War (as a French colony),The Second world war (as a friend of the Allies - particularly the U.S.),Indochina war (with France), Vietnam War , Border war with China ,Defensive war with the Khmer Rouge
During the past two centuries. War is all what we know ,we smell,we live with...Among all the peoples of the world - we, the Vietnamese,understand what terrible, brutality and loss that war can brings - We were tired of war
But "To have peace, prepare for war" - AND WE MUST PREPARE NOW -To protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity that our father had to shed blood to gain .Doctrine of our war "Each individual is a soldier, every house is a fortress"- We do not want to invasion or influencing any country - All we want is protect our country
We do not have many modern tanks ,warship or modern aircraft. All we have is people - and we use the best of what we have
We have about five hundred thousand professional soldiers , Quite a few for a country with eighty-five million people-Because we can't waste the labor of the people in the military , We need to rebuild the country and make economic development .Instead, we have a more comprehensive national defense
Here I am only talking about the national defense education -The national defense education in the schools
In việt nam .When you're in high school (16 years old) - you will have a new subjects: NATIONAL DEFENSE
In the beginning of school year . You and your new classmates will spend two weeks to learn to move in formation . It is a very important time because some completely new friends will train with you in one of the most difficult exercises . Just one among forty people made a mistake - the whole formation will fail .This is a great lesson about discipline, teamwork and a good time for people to get acquainted with each other in the beginning of school year -An interesting experience for new students
The study of national defense be teach once a week - Each classes lasts about two hours.Most are taught in the barracks with the teacher is the officers (in major cities, schools often invite the officers to schools to teach)
The first is the theory lecture, you must learn and remember the historical events, the lessons of patriotism and the spirit of Vietnam .
The next lesson is about the AK47 assault rifle . Standard weapon of the Vietnam People's Army -You will learn how to preserve, repair and use it Then there will is lessons on how move with the AK in the battle field , how to aim while standing, kneeling or lying
We also learn first aid on the battlefield
The next lesson is to learn about the explosive weapons like grenades, mines - Structure of their , how to use , how to detect mines on the battlefield and how to disable them
Unfortunately all are not allowed to practice, too dangerous . We only allow students to throw fake grenades Very Happy
The next lesson is how to melee with rifle and bayonets - as well as previous lessons, too dangerous ,so we only teach the theory and watching movies
When entering the the third year of high school . In the first month of school year - the students (at least 18 years old) will be in the army barracks camp for a month
At that place, they will be living like army life -they will cook their own, self - laundry , guard at night
They will learn how to read maps , fighting in groups and other hard lessons
Tactics
At shooting range
In some areas in the South -we used the weapons that we collected during the war to practice.Like M16
we also have the opportunity to familiarize and practice with other weapon like SVD

After they finished the course - there will be a test of all the knowledge they have learned in two years
After passing the the test - they will receive a certificate , prove they are a reserve soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army .And they will return to school, learn and prepare for high school graduation exam
