Former AC Milan defender Dario Simic has shed some light on his current role as a scout for the Rossoneri including how the department work as a team.

Simic is a player who played multiple roles throughout his decorated career including full-back and centre-back, and there will be an interesting crossroads for him on Wednesday night given he is a product of Dinamo Zagreb’s academy, who arrive at San Siro to face Milan in the Champions League.

He played for the Rossoneri from 2002-2008 and won seven major trophies including two Champions League titles in 2003 and 2007, while he is currently working for his former side as a scout to try and find the next talents.

Regarding his work for the club, Simic spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport to give some insight on how the scouting area operates, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“We work as a team, then Paolo and Ricky decide. Moncada is my boss, I talk to him every day. As a principle, we try to be fast, because abroad – the British clubs, but not only – they have budgets that we cannot compete with,” he said.

“We are looking for profiles for modern football. Of course, sometimes they cost 50-70-80 million and you have to go to secure them first. Other clubs pay for the potential, which Milan cannot always do, also because Serie A is not easy. The level has risen.”
