Hmm... so what do you think about it? I don't mean I'm neglecting accent. I think an accent is an identity. So, it is not so important to learn a specific accent. Just stick with yourself, mind a fluent English.
This thread is going on the right place, I think. Can you propose a narrower topic? About accent, yes I do believe that it is not important. Look at Indians, they speak English fluently yet still be distinguishable from British and American people.
