Newest Convert — A Beautiful Security Guard Who Can Guidance In His Dreams.
There is nothing like the sacrifice of a mother. Like what this Indian mother who lives in Malaysia did.
For the single mother who happens to be a convert to Islam, she is willing to do anything to ensure the needs of the four children she cares for are met.Not only that, Saratah Letchumanan or her Islamic name Nursarah Letchumanan, is also responsible for the care of her parents.
The 39-year-old woman’s devotion to her parents was extraordinary even though they did not follow in her footsteps to become Muslim.Apart from children, Nursarah also takes care of her mother, Tunikody M Karuppiah, 66 years old, and her father, Letchumanan Ponnusamy, 84 years old.
Nursarah takes care of those who suffer from chronic diseases such as heart disease, gallstones, asthma, high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Together with her child and parents, Nursarah currently lives in the Seri Semarak public housing estate in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
The story of Nursarah’s suffering who works as a security guard with a salary of around 2,300 ringgit a month caught the attention of the Muslim Welfare Foundation.
Although for Indonesians, Nursarah’s salary is high, but the nominal amount is still insufficient to meet the needs of her 6 family members.
To increase her monthly income as a security guard, Nursarah also runs a small muruku business.
One of the volunteers of the Muslim Welfare Foundation, Muhammad Alief Hakimie Ramli, admitted that he was impressed by Nursarah’s persistence in carrying out her big responsibility.
“Before he could still support his family. But since his father was sick and lying in the hospital, he needed a lot of money to buy his father’s milk and disposable diapers,” said Alief.
According to Alief, the price for buying milk and disposable diapers is already 600 ringgit a month. Not to mention the cost of the needs of the children who are still there.
Currently, Nursarah receives 310 ringgit worth of food and daily necessities every month for six months.
Meanwhile, Nursarah, who embraced Islam since a year ago, admitted that she had never asked or begged for help from anyone.
Nursarah said she was worried that people would think she had migrated just because she wanted to get free assistance from an Islamic foundation.
“I didn’t convert to Islam because I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to get a share. Even now I don’t know how to get this assistance, maybe someone closest to me asked for it,” said this graduate of the Bumiputera Entrepreneur Institute (IUB) majoring in Digital Technology (IT).
Nursarah then told the beginning of why she said the shahada and embraced Islam.
According to him, he received guidance and converted to Islam after having a very strange dream in his sleep.
“I received guidance after dreaming of wearing a telekung (mukenah). So before converting to Islam, I asked my father and mother for permission first,” he said.
Nursarah was very grateful, her parents did not realize that she had converted to Islam. However, they advised that religion should not be played with.
“My parents didn’t forbid me to embrace Islam. But the condition was that I was a man or had other intentions to convert.
“If you convert to Islam because you love Allah, they say it’s okay,” said Nursarah.
After dreaming of wearing a mukenah, Nursarah did not immediately strengthen her determination to embrace Islam. He gave himself six months of time before making his final decision.
If the dream is not a sleep toy, it will come again because I don’t want to rush. After six months, the same dream came again.
“I went straight to JAWI last year,” he recalls.
Nursarah said, even though she had different beliefs with her parents and other family members, she didn’t have a problem. Vice versa, family members respect his decision to embrace Islam.
