Godzilla: King of the Monsters is an upcoming American monster film directed by Michael Dougherty and written by Dougherty, Zach Shields and Max Borenstein. It is the sequel to 2014's Godzilla and will be the 35th film in the Godzilla franchise, the third film in Legendary's MonsterVerse, and the third Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio. Despite the film's title, it is unrelated to the 1956 film of the same name. The film stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds and Zhang Ziyi.
