Should we?
Two days ago I was having an argument with her about poverty and misery. I said the only way to overcome the sadness is being ignorant and not helping them is correct answer. Ethics of Care, lifeboat analogy and Sidharta Gautama deeds were my justification. Helping them is just self-comforting. She said it's not like that and kept silent afterward.

The next day. That entire day she didn't talk to me. Until evening, when I drove her home, she asked to go different route. We stopped at restaurant and she picked up 50 boxes of meal. Then we went to orphanage. It seemed she has gone there a few times as kids were familiar to her. After that, when I drove her home, she asked if I got the point. She told me that being ignorant doesn't solve anything. The fact is they are still there, suffering, and eventually we will see them and the pain of witnessing such scene is inevitable. She pointed it's better to help them. Even though they don't want to be helped nor want to stay alive, at least there are people dearest to them who wish them to stay alive and thrive to see the world. Even if poverty and misery always coexist with human civilization, helping even only few of them isn't just self-comforting. Carrying wish of those people is morally correct and reasonable, "like I want you to stay with me. You will carry my wish, won't you?"

"May with our help they can solve things in the future and together we build better society for everyone."
