Minyak Bumi

Minyak bumi adalah cairan kental, berwarna hitam atau kehijauan, mudah terbakar, dan berada di lapisan atas dari beberapa tempat di kerak bumi. Minyak bumi merupakan salah satu bentuk hidrokarbon, yaitu senyawa kimia yang mengandung hidrogen dan karbon.

Minyak bumi (bahasa Inggris: petroleum, dari bahasa Latin petrus – karang dan oleum – minyak), dijuluki juga sebagai emas hitam, adalah cairan kental, berwarna coklat gelap, atau kehijauan yang mudah terbakar, yang berada di lapisan atas dari beberapa area di kerak bumi. Minyak bumi terdiri dari campuran kompleks dari berbagai hidrokarbon, sebagian besar seri alkana, tetapi bervariasi dalam penampilan, komposisi, dan kemurniannya. Minyak bumi diambil dari sumur minyak di pertambangan-pertambangan minyak. Lokasi sumur-sumur minyak ini didapatkan setelah melalui proses studi geologi, analisis sedimen, karakter dan struktur sumber, dan berbagai macam studi lainnya.[1][2] Setelah itu, minyak bumi akan diproses di tempat pengilangan minyak dan dipisah-pisahkan hasilnya berdasarkan titik didihnya sehingga menghasilkan berbagai macam bahan bakar, mulai dari bensin dan minyak tanah sampai aspal dan berbagai reagen kimia yang dibutuhkan untuk membuat plastik dan obat-obatan.[3] Minyak bumi digunakan untuk memproduksi berbagai macam barang dan material yang dibutuhkan manusia.


1. West Texas Intermediate (WTI)

West Texas Intermediate (WTI), also known as Texas light sweet, is a grade of crude oil used as a benchmark in oil pricing. This grade is described as light because of its relatively low density, and sweet because of its low sulfur content. It is the underlying commodity of New York Mercantile Exchange's oil futures contracts.
The price of WTI is often referenced in news reports on oil prices, alongside the price of Brent crude from the North Sea. Other important oil markers include the Dubai Crude, Oman Crude, Urals oil and the OPEC Reference Basket. WTI is lighter and sweeter than Brent, and considerably lighter and sweeter than Dubai or Oman.

WTI adalah minyak mentah light, dengan API gravitasi sekitar 39,6 dan berat jenis sekitar 0,827, yang lebih ringan dari minyak mentah Brent. Ini berisi sekitar 0,24% sulfur sehingga dinilai sebagai minyak manis mentah (memiliki kurang dari 0,5% sulfur), lebih manis dari Brent yang memiliki 0,37% sulfur. 2. Brent Crude

Brent Crude is a major trading classification of sweet light crude oil that serves as a major benchmark price for purchases of oil worldwide. This grade is described as light because of its relatively low density, and sweet because of its low sulfur content. Brent Crude is extracted from the North Sea and comprises Brent Blend, Forties Blend, Oseberg and Ekofisk crudes (also known as the BFOE Quotation). The Brent Crude oil marker is also known as Brent Blend, London Brent and Brent petroleum.
The other well-known classifications (also called references or benchmarks) are the OPEC Reference Basket, Dubai Crude, Oman Crude, Urals oil and West Texas Intermediate (WTI). Brent is the leading global price benchmark for Atlantic basin crude oils. It is used to price two thirds of the world's internationally traded crude oil supplies.

Saat ini penetapan harga minyak bumi didasarkan pada dua kelompok/standar yang umum dan besar yaitu.

1. Brent (Brent Crude) merupakan nilai standarisasi minyak yang sumbernya berasal dari laut utara(eropa) sedang nama Brent berasal dari lahan tambang di laut utara, yang dibuka pada tahun 1970.
Harga minyak Brent menjadi dasar pembentukan harga sejak tahun 1971 untuk hampir 40% nilai minyak diseluruh dunia, dan terus digunakan sampai sekarang ini.

Namun, dalam perkembangannya, karena produksi dari Brent terus mengalami penurunan maka sejak 2007 berkembang standarisasi harga baru yaitu WTI.

2. WTI (West Texas Intermediate ) - adalah minyak bumi yang diproduksi di Texas (AS), dan dalam aplikasinya kebanyakan digunakan untuk bensin industri dan itulah sebabnya minyak ini banyak diminati, terutama di AS dan Cina.

A benchmark crude or marker crude is a crude oil that serves as a reference price for buyers and sellers of crude oil. There are three primary benchmarks, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), Brent Blend, and Dubai Crude. Other well-known blends include the OPEC Reference Basket used by OPEC, Tapis Crude which is traded in Singapore, Bonny Light used in Nigeria, Urals oil used in Russia and Mexico's Isthmus. Energy Intelligence Group publishes a handbook which identified 195 major crude streams or blends in its 2011 edition.[1][2]
Benchmarks are used because there are many different varieties and grades of crude oil.[3] Using benchmarks makes referencing types of oil easier for sellers and buyers.
There is always a spread between WTI, Brent and other blends due to the transportation cost. This is the price that controls world oil market price.

3. Dubai and Oman

Dubai Crude, also known as Fateh, is a light sour crude oil extracted from Dubai. It is produced in the Emirate of Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai's only refinery, at Jebel Ali, takes condensates as feedstocks, and therefore all of Dubai's crude production is exported. For many years it was the only freely traded oil in the Middle East, but gradually a spot market has developed in Omani crude as well.
For many years, most of the oil producers in the Middle East have taken the monthly spot price average of Dubai and Oman as the benchmark for sales to the Far East (WTI and Brent futures prices are used for exports to the Atlantic Basin). In July 2007, a potential new mechanism arose in the form of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, which offers futures contracts in Omani crude. Whether the DME will be successful, and whether Omani futures prices will be adopted by producers and buyers as a benchmark, remain to be seen.
