WWE wrestling legend Chyna has died at the age of 45 after a suspected overdose, reports claim.
Chyna, whose real name was Joan Marie Laurer, was found dead at her home in Redondo Beach, California, according to her website.
Police are investigating suspicions the champion fighter died of a drug overdose, TMZ reports.
'It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero,' a statement posted to her official Twitter account announced.
'She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her.'



The statement was signed by 'Felix' of 'Team Chyna'.
Storming onto the wrestling scene in 1997, Laurer quickly earned the nickname 'Ninth Wonder Of The World'.
Her profile on WWE brands her 'the most dominant female competitor of all time'.
She was the first woman to win the WWE Championship, and was the first woman to compete in the organization's Royal Rumble contest.

Chyna, WWE Superstar, Found Dead in L.A. Home


Chyna, the former WWE wrestler and reality TV star, was found dead in her Redondo Beach home on Wednesday. She was 45.

The official cause of death is unknown.

According to local police, a friend found the wrestling star unresponsive in bed after not answering her phone for a few days.

“There are no indications or signs that her death was the result of foul play,” police said.

Chyna, whose real name is Joanie Laurer, last appeared in an odd YouTube video posted Sunday morning.

Her Facebook announced the news late Wednesday.

“It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her,” the post read.

Chyna appeared in several TV shows over the last two decades, including VH1’s “Surreal Life” and “Celebrity Rehab.” She also guest starred on “3rd Rock from the Sun” and “The Nick Cannon Show.”

A larger-than-life figure, the wrestler and actress later posed for Playboy magazine before starring in several adult films, including “She-Hulk XXX.”

She later moved to Japan to teach English.

“There’s a misconception out there in the media that I’ve become this monster,” she told Vice last year. “In the meantime, I’m just trying to get a job and live my life.”

LOS ANGELES - Legenda World Wresting Entertainment (WWE) Joanie Laurer atau yang akrab disapa Chyna ditemukan tewas di Apartemennya di kawasan Pantai Redondo, Los Angeles, Amerika Serikat pada Rabu (20/4/2016) waktu setempat. Chyna tewas di usia 45 tahun dengan penyebab yang belum diketahui.

"Bersama surat ini, kesedihan mendalam kami beritahukan jika hari ini kami kehilangan ikon besar dan pahlawan di kehidupan nyata. Joanie Laurer alias Chyna, satu dari sembilan keajaiban dunia, sudah meninggal dunia. Dia akan hidup selamanya dalam ingatan jutaan penggemar serta kita yang mencintainya," ucap penyataan pihak keluarga yang diposting lewat akun Twitternya, @ChynaJoanLaurer dua jam lalu.

Anthony Anzaldo selaku manajernya, mengatakan belum tahu penyebab kematian kliennya. Chyna ditemukan tidak bernyawa pada sore hari setelah tetangga apartemennya menghubungi kepolisian setempat.

"Kepolisian Pantai Redondo menerima telpon 911 dari seorang rekannya di apartemen jika ada wanita tidak bernyawa. Rekannya mengatakan kepada Kepolisian Pantai Redondo bahwa perempuan itu tidak menjawab telepon selama beberapa hari. Polisi lantas pergi ke lokasi untuk memeriksa keadaannya. Saat petugas tiba di tempat kejadian, ditemukan seorang wanita yang meninggal," beber penyataan Kepolisian Redondo.

Chyna merupakan pegulat wanita yang tenar di tahun 2000-an usai memulai karier gulat sejak 1995. Ia dijuluki sebagai salah satu dari sembilan keajaiban dunia. Chyna juga jadi wanita pertama yang ambil bagian dalam pertarungan royal rumble dan King of Rings serta berhasil jadi penantang nomor satu untuk kejuaraan WWF (World Wresting Federation).

Di luar prestasinya olahraga gulat, Chyna juga kerap berpose sebagai model di majalah dewasa ternama serta tampil di beberapa acara reality show. Ia juga sempat terjerat obat-obatan serta terjerumus dalam industri pornografi.
