"Too filthy to handle ! Jakarta is so dirty and smelly that middle to upper class people prefer hanging out indoor, particularly in the malls. Maybe this is why the malls in Indonesia are so big and luxurious."


"They fail at replicating the taste of indigenous foods of other parts of the country. For instance, the Soto Surabaya, a food originated from Surabaya, in Jakarta will not taste as good as in the homeland. This can be a big problem because it can threaten the reputation of the food. They also fail at replica foreign foods."


"Many wealthy Jakartans are very rich, but they lack of taste. There are many big expensive houses in Jakarta, but the front wall is filled with graffiti and litters, and the roads got terrible conditions with very tall speed bumps."


"Jakarta is inconsistent, maybe in one block you will see shophouses (Called ‘Ruko’ here) with Russian architecture, and then the next block, you will get to see some ‘Ruko’ with Japanese style. It’s like a giant themepark !"

Surabaya is cleaner, and there’s more newer infrastructures. Bali is a lot prettier, and the people are much nicer. Jogjakarta is more charismatic, unlike the inconsistent Jakarta. So why should the rest parts of Indonesia follow Jakarta ? It should be the way around. Jakarta is the one that should follow the rest parts of Indonesia."
