PM Turki Ahmet Davutoglu menuduh Rusia menargetkan komunitas Turkmen dan Suni.

KOMPAS.com- Perdana Menteri Turki telah menuduh Rusia mencoba melakukan "pembersihan etnis" lewat serangan udaranya di utara Suriah.

Ahmet Davutoglu mengatakan kampanye yang dilakukan Rusia menjadikan komunitas Turkmen dan Suni di sekitar kawasan Latakia sebagai sasaran.

Hubungan antara Ankara dan Moskow sudah memburuk sejak Turki menembak jatuh pesawat tempur Rusia di perbatasan Suriah.

Presiden Vladimir Putin telah meminta para spesialis Inggris untuk membantu menganalisis rekaman pernerbangan pesawat itu dalam percakapan lewat telepon dengan Perdana Menteri Inggris David Cameron, kata Kremlin.

Turki bersikeras bahwa pesawat tempur F-16 mereka menembak pesawat Rusia Su-24 pada tanggal 24 November karena pesawat pengebom itu melanggar wilayah udaranya. Rusia membantah hal ini.

"Rusia mencoba melakukan pembersihan etnis di Latakia utara untuk memaksa keluar semua penduduk Turkmen dan Suni yang tidak memiliki hubungan baik dengan rezim di Suriah," kata Davutoglu kepada wartawan di Istanbul hari Rabu (9/12).

Dia mengatakan serangan udara Rusia ini "memperkuat" kelompok militan yang menamakan dirinya Negara Islam (ISIS) di Suriah.

Rusia mengatakan pesawat pengebomnya menyerang ISIS serta kelompok-kelompok militan lainnya di Suriah, dengan membantu pasukan pemerintahan Presiden Bashar al-Assad.

Namun, para analis Barat dan sumber-sumber pemberontak Suriah mengatakan kebanyakan pengeboman yang dilakukan Rusia menargetkan kelompok-kelompok anti-Assad yang bukan militan.

The Batak massacre:[1] more than 5,000 of the 7,000 inhabitants of the Bulgarian town of Batak, including women and children, were raped, slaughtered, beheaded or burned alive by Ottoman irregulars who left piles of dead bodies around the town square and church in 1876, giving start of the April Uprising.

American journalist and war correspondent working for the New York Herald and the London Daily News, Januarius McGahan, who first described the Turkish atrocities in Bulgaria, gives eye-witness account of the aftermath some two months following the events. Amazingly, Turkish history, as taught in schools today, fails to mention a word on the 500 years of genocide and systematic rape and torture of the Bulgarian people and my Turkish peers are quite ignorant of the facts and the history their forefathers wrote in innocent blood.

The April Uprising (Bulgarian: Априлско въстание, Aprilsko vastanie) was an insurrection organised by the Bulgarians in the Ottoman Empire from April to May 1876, which indirectly resulted in the re-establishment of Bulgaria as an independent nation in 1878. The uprising was brutally crushed by the regular Ottoman Army and irregular bashi-bazouk units, leading to a public outcry in Europe and the United States, with many famous intellectuals condemning the Ottoman atrocities and supporting the oppressed Bulgarian population.

The 1876 uprising involved only those parts of the Ottoman territories populated predominantly by Bulgarians. The emergence of Bulgarian national sentiments was closely related to the re-establishment of the independent Bulgarian church in 1870. Together with notions of romantic nationalism the rise of national awareness became known as the Bulgarian National Revival.

Close to 100,000were slaughtered in Bulgaria following the uprising, which attempted to put an end to the 500 years of Turkish slavery. Millions were killed in the course the darkest ages of Bulgarian history. Amazingly, the nation survived and managed to preserve its ethnic, cultural and Christian identity.

Assyrian genocide

Estimates on the overall death toll have varied. Providing detailed statistics of the various estimates of the Churches' population after the genocide, David Gaunt accepts the figure of 275,000 deathsas reported by the Assyrian delegation at the Treaty of Lausanne and ventures that the death toll would be around 300,000 because of uncounted Assyrian-inhabited areas, leading to the elimination of half of the Assyrian nation.[7] Rudolph Rummel gives the number of Christian deaths in Assyrian-populated regions of Turkey as 102,000 and adds to this the killing of around 47,000 Assyrians in Persia.

Ethnic cleansing

Historians today describe the Assyrian Genocide as a programme of extermination carried out by the Ottoman Empire upon the Chaldean, Syriac and Assyrian populations. All three peoples were Christian, and the Ottomans attempted to wipe them out during a wider ethnic cleansing campaign, which also included the Armenian and Greek genocides.

The Assyrian extermination campaign actually lasted from 1914 to 1923, Turkey's rulers carrying on the killing long after their empire had been dismantled. The death toll varies depending which historical scholar or record you consult.

"Estimates on the overall death toll vary, with some contemporary reports placing the figure at270,000, and estimates range to as many as 750,000," reported Dr. Israel W. Charny, the editor of two-volume Encyclopedia of Genocide and executive director of the Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide.

Charny groups the Assyrian Genocide together with the massacre of Greeks and Armenians in a "Christian Holocaust", which he claims was "the precursor to the Jewish Holocaust in WWII."

"To this day, the Turkish government ostensibly denies having committed this genocide" Charny adds.

THE GREEK GENOCIDE: 1914-1923

The Greek Genocide was the systematic extermination of the Greek subjects of the Ottoman Empire before, during and after World War I (1914-1923). It was instigated by successive governments of the Ottoman Empire, including the Committee of Union and Progress (C.U.P), and the Nationalist Kemalists of Mustafa Kemala Atatürk. It included massacres, forced deportations and death marches, summary expulsions, boycotts, rape, forced conversion to Islam, conscription into labour battalions, arbitrary executions, and destruction of Christian Orthodox cultural, historical and religious monuments. According to various sources, between 1 and 1.5 million Ottoman Greeks perished during this period.

Pontian and Anatolian Greeks were victims of a broader Turkish genocidal project aimed at all Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire. A total of more than 3.5 million Greeks, Armenians, and Assyrians were killed under the successive regimes of the Young Turks and of Mustafa Kemal from roughly 1914 to 1923.Of this, as many as 1.5 million Greeks may have died. The end of the genocide marked a profound rupture in the long Greek historical presence on the Asia Minor.
