Sequoia adalah nama golongan tumbuhan bagian dari keluarga Cupressacceae. Dalam golongan ini hanya tersisa satu spesies yang masih bertahan hidup hingga sekarang yaitu sequoia sempervirens. Secara umum, pohon ini berbentuk kerucut. Kulitnya tebal hingga 30 cm, tapi cukup lembut, dan mempunyai serabut-serabut berwarna merah kecoklatan terang. Faktor warna ini membeuat sequoia dikenal juga dengan nama pohon redwood (kayu merah). Taman Nasional Sequoia adalah taman nasional di selatan Sierra Nevada, tenggara Fresno, California, Amerika Serikat.

The Giant Forest
The Giant Forest is home to half of the Earth’s largest and longest-living trees. Named in 1875 by John Muir, the forest is a stand of more than 8,000 colossal sequoia trees – many standing just as Muir found them.

Take an easy one-mile stroll around beautiful Round Meadow. Trailside exhibits help tell the story of the park. This is just one of the park’s many interpretive forest trails leading out from the museum.
