Among the most revealing interview answers is around minute 32, when the reporter asked Hashim whether he expects a political gridlock in Indonesia presumably due to a parliamentary block. Hashim’s interview answer is in contrast to several media reporting that he will block the upcoming government led by Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo in the parliament.

“There is some due fear of political gridlock in Indonesia, what are your expectation with the opposition in control of parliament and Jokowi as President, is there going to be political gridlock?” asked the reporter.

“We (government and parliament) will have to work together for the good of the country, it seems to me. So he (Jokowi) will have to come to us and we will have to compromise. He will be a president with a co-equal partner in parliament, so maybe something he did not expect,” answered Hashim Djohohadikusumo.
