Japanese defense industry has exhibited their latest innovations and technologies of military equipment at the Defense & Security Exhibition Eurosatory 2014. During the event, the Japanese Defense Company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has unveiled a new concept of wheeled multipurpose armoured vehicle with high mobility and survivability.

The Mitsubishi 8x8 armoured vehicle platform has been developed with MHI's wheeled combat vehicle technology to demonstrate both mobility and survivability

High agility and stability, huge payload and large internal volume enable the platform to be tailored for various operations

Experienced technologies and in-house components, some of which have contributed to Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, are optimally integrated

Survivability can be enhanced with various add-on armor kit, including reactive armor, net armor, anti-mine armor, mine protection seat, and remote weapon system.

At Eurosatory 2014, Mitsubishi has showed a scale model of the vehicle which was fitted with remote weapon station (RWS) armed with a 12.7mm .50 heavy machine gun. The front and each side of the vehicle was equipped with wire cage armour.

The Mitsubishi 8x8 armoured vehicle is motorized with a MHI 4VA four cycle 4-cylinder diesel that can offer 400kW of power. The 8×8 is all-wheel drive and has independent, double wishbone or hydropneumatic suspension. The vehicle is fitted with 395/85R20 summer/winter tyres. It can achieve a maximum speed of more than 100km/h and can carry a total of 11 soldiers including commander, driver and gunner.
