Quick counts key to keeping Indonesian presidential election clean

AMID fears of Indonesia’s presidential election being “stolen” in counting rooms, Quick Counts, the most innovative safeguards built into the electoral system, will come into their own next week.

Wednesday’s election for Indo­nesia’s president for the next five years threatens to be unprecedentedly close, raising the risk of decisive fraud, particularly after the April legislative elections proved the dirtiest since 1999.
