Bionic Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
Bionix infantry fighting vehicle was developed by Singapore Technologies Automotives (now Singapore Technologies Engineering) and adopted for service in the armed forces of Singapore in 1999, the year in configuration Bionix Bionix 25 and 40/50.
BMP Bionix II (BXII) was jointly developed by ST Engineering, Agency for Defence, Science and Technology (Defense Science and Technology Agency, DSTA) and Singapore army and was adopted by the armed forces of Singapore in October of 2006. Bionix II is also produced in the command post version.
Bionix is also made in the embodiments of the armored recovery vehicle (ARV) equipped with a 25-ton winch and a 30-ton crane, and armored vehicle launched bridges framed bridge MLC30, which can be set because the crew armor or using a remote control. Bionix armored personnel carrier was designed by Singapore Technologies as a private initiative and has been proposed as an armored vehicle of the U.S. Army in the competition, who won the concern with General Dynamics Stryker ICV.
Infantry fighting vehicle Bionix II has the same body, propulsion and suspension as the previous version of the machine. It is equipped with a digital control system battle with network support, a new 30-mm cannon MK44 Bushmaster company ATC system with dual ammunition feed and modular booking. The machine is equipped with a double tower and is capable of carrying up to 10 fighters. It is also armed with a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun universal.
Bionix II features an improved day / night thermal sight (day / night thermal sighting system, DNTSS) with stabilization in two planes for a more sustainable target tracking. Also integrated eye-safe laser rangefinder has a range of up to 3 km.
Bionix infantry fighting vehicle 25 is equipped with a double tower and is capable of carrying up to ten infantrymen. It is armed with a 25 mm cannon ATK M242 with dual ammunition feed system and stabilization in the vertical and horizontal planes. Gun ammunition is 180 ready to fire 25 mm shells and other ordnance in boeukladke 420. The gun is capable of firing high explosive and armor-piercing projectiles feathered tracer produced by Chartered Industries of Singapore (now Singapore Technologies Kinetics) licenses Oerlikon Contraves.
Place gunner day sight equipped with an eightfold increase and thermal night sight with two fields of view for the guidance of 25-mm cannon. In addition to the day and night sights can be mounted laser rangefinder.
The machine is armed with three 7.62mm general purpose machine guns, one paired with a 25 mm cannon, one anti-aircraft mounted on the roof of the car and used the commander or gunner and one - the right of the stern. Besides, the car was armed with six 76mm smoke grenade launchers.
Bionix armored vehicle 40/50 is equipped with a single turret 40/50, manufactured by Chartered Industries of Singapore. It seats 11 and is equipped with double infantry fighting module with a 40-mm grenade launcher and machine guns of 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm.
Tower
Twin tower Bionix is all-welded steel armor construction. Additional armor can be installed over spaced passive armor. The place is located right gunner and commander's left. Both places are equipped with hatches.
Tower rotates 360 °. Horizontal and vertical guidance provided by an all-electric gun digital system. Controls are as the gunner and commander. Three day gunner periscope give possibility to observe the right and rear of the vehicle. Command has combined with the gunner sight and a five day periscopes, allowing observations in front left and rear of the machine.
Housing
The hull and turret are welded steel construction with modular passive armor. Access to the troop compartment is via the feed ramp equipped with a mechanical drive. The ramp can be used for emergency access and exit the car. One hatch is installed on the roof of the troop compartment. The driver's seat is equipped with three periscopes. Two external periscope are solely for daytime driving, while central periscope can be replaced from day to night, working on the principle of light amplification stars.
Engine
The power plant, located in the front right side of the vehicle, can be easily replaced in the field in less than 15 minutes. The machine is equipped with a diesel engine Detroit Diesel 6V-92TA turbo developing 475 hp power at 2400 rpm and 550 hp - At maximum speed. The engine is equipped with an electronically controlled fuel injection. Engine compartment equipped with an automatic fire alarm systems and fire with dry powder, as well as additional manual override.
The machine is equipped with automatic hydromechanical transmission HMPT-500EC and final drive from General Dynamics Land Systems.
Cooling system supplied Galley, giving the car a low thermal signature. Two fuel tank with capacity of 562 liters mounted on both sides in the upper part of the housing.
Suspension and Chassis
Hydropneumatic suspension from the British Horstman Defence Systems provides a smooth ride required for weapon systems and comfortable conditions for landing. Hydropneumatic suspension is based on the proven design Hydrogas, installed on the Challenger tanks and self-propelled howitzers AS 90. The machine is equipped with caterpillars 77th functioning and rubber mount and six road wheels on each side.
Maneuverability
Bionix is able to reach speeds of 70 km / h on the road and 25 km / h to 40 km / h on rough terrain. Reserve of 415 km at a speed of 45km / h Bionix can gradeability with a gradient of up to 60% and lateral inclination of up to 30%. Turning radius of 9.9 meters or 6.5 meters around its axis. This ensures good maneuverability in urban environments and in a limited space.
Bionix is able to overcome the 2.2-m trench, 0.8-m vertical obstacle ford deep and 1 m (with preparation). Installing the optional kit makes the car in an amphibian.
