AS tension between China and Japan continue to boil over the disputed status of the Diaoyu Islands and Japan’s subsequent move to nationalize several of the islands in the chain, an unlikely peacemaker has come forward to appeal for calm.

The ‘peacemaker’ is none other than Sora Aoi, a former Japanese pornographic actress.The 28-year-old Tokyo resident recently took to social media to ask for peace between the two squabbling nations.

Numerous protests have taken place in China, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan over Japan’s move, which had ignited fierce sentiments among the Chinese.

The bitter dispute has even even extended to the sporting arena, where China recently recalled its badminton players who were due to participate in the Japan Open.



PEACE FOR ALL: The Chinese calligraphy message, posted on Aoi's fan page, has triggered more than 140,000 comments.On September 14, Aoi had, on Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo, uploaded a photo of Chinese calligraphy, bearing the message "People of China and Japan, be friendly with each other", appealing for peace between the countries.

The posting on her page, which commands a staggering 13 million followers, has touched a raw nerve among as Chinese netizens promptly flooded her page with messages.

Many had slammed the actress for her naivety and labelled her a "Japanese dog". One Chinese commenter even noted that "Japan should hurry up and nationalize Sora Aoi before China makes a move. If Japan loses those assets…,"snidely referring to Japan’s move in nationalizing the Diayou islands.

Aoi’s message triggered more than 140,000 comments on her Weibo page, and her Twitter message retweeted 120,000 times.

Aoi, whose porn industry past skyrocketed her popularity among China’s men, has since become a household name in the country, and has been nicknamed ‘Teacher Cang’ or ‘Sister Kong’; names derived from incorporating characters from her name.

She has since quit pornography and delved into acting and singing.
