Liverpool FC to play in Indonesia for first time

Liverpool FC have today confirmed that the club will make history this year when they play their first ever match in Indonesia.


The Reds, winners of five European Cups and 18 league titles, will play a match on July 20th as part of the 2013 pre-season tour presented by main sponsor Standard Chartered.

Further details about the game and Liverpool FC's first visit to Indonesia will be revealed at a press conference to be held later today in Jakarta and attended by LFC managing director Ian Ayre and club ambassador and record goalscorer Ian Rush.

Gerrard: We can't wait to meet fans in Indonesia

Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard today delivered a video message to the club’s millions of supporters in Indonesia and revealed he can’t wait to meet them.


Earlier today, the club announced that the Indonesian capital of Jakarta will be the first stopon their 2013 pre-season tour, presented by Standard Chartered, before the team flies to Australia and then on to Thailand.

Like the Reds, Gerrrad has never visited Indonesia before in any capacity and having heard so much about the unbelievable size of Liverpool's fanbase across the country; he wanted to deliver a message directly to fans.

Speaking exclusively to lfctour.com, he told fans: "Hi, I'm Steven Gerrard, the captain of Liverpool, and I can't wait to lead the team out over in Indonesia. Our supporters over there are very passionate and we can't wait to get out there and meet them."
