December 12th Waraxe The Realms of Tygoria await you
Another milestone in the history of Diviad has finally come: After about 8 months of work we finally can give you our newest game: Waraxe.
You can find it at www.waraxegame.com or at http://apps.facebook.com/waraxegame, but as usual it is way cooler to use the FB connect version.
Waraxe is a wargame set in the fictional land of Tygoria. Many races are living in Tygoria, and over the centuries two factions have been formed which are at constant war with each other:
The Forces of Good, an alliance of humans, halflings and dwarves, and the Axis of Evil, a warpact between orcs, goblins and undead. However, there are more races than that: The elves and their corrupt brethren, the shadowelves. Age-old legends speak of the frost giants living in the north, and demons have been sighted crossing over from the infernal planes.
Waraxe is a strategic wargame, meaning that your actions decide the outcome of battle. The goal is to score more Victory Points than your opponent. Our battles are not scripted, so you can devise strategies and react to whatever your opponent is throwing at you.
The first thing in the game to do is to choose a faction. Please note this: YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE YOUR FACTION! So choose wisely if you will lead the Forces of Good or the Axis of Evil into battle.
You are a general and you start your campaign by gathering an army. You start with one hero and two units and throughout the game you recruit more heroes and units to join you. You will have a lot of options how to play, e.g. a mixed Axis army, an army just consisting of orcs & goblins, or an orc army that focusses on dealing air damage. The choice is yours and you have several army slots for different army compositions.
You advance in the game by doing quests. Most of you are probably familiar with the do-quest-for-energy concept. It serves its purpose and is easy and elegant. But this is the only thing that Waraxe has in common with other games: If you want to progess a quest you have to fight and win your battles. If you lose your quest won't progress. Waraxe has three regions at release. You have to do all mainquests in one region to proceed to the next, but don't ignore sidequests: They will help you to become stronger. Oh, and all quests texts have been written by our community members, hope you like them.
There is a lot to read about combat. I hope that all of you have read the tutorial and the How to section. If you need help or don't understand everything then please aks on the forum or in the chat room. Our beta testers have acquired a vast knowledge about Waraxe and are happy to help you with questions, hints, and strategies.
We already have a beginner's guide written by Grand Gouda on the strategy subforum and an FAQ and the FAQ and questions subforum .
Waraxe is a wargame, meaning theere will be PvP. Actually we support PvP. Unlike in Chronicles of Blood you won't be able to turn off PvP.
Now we know that some may not like the idea of being attacked by strangers, but you will never ever lose anything in PvP except your pride. You can even win PvP tokens by winning battles in which you have ben attacked. The same player can only attack you 8 times within 24 hours. Your army slot 1 is your PvP slot, so make sure to always save changes. Our PvP matching tries to always give you an opponent of equal strength. Formations, units, spells and items are taken into account.
You have a comment wall on your profile. A word of warning: Not only will all insults be deleted, but the player doing this will also be banned immediately. We want PvP to be in good spirit. I doubt that we will have a problem with that, the CoB PvP community is very friendly, but better be safe than sorry.
What have we planned for Waraxe? Region 4, the Deepstone caves are already in the works. Before we open them we will include a social feature, epic boss fights in which you have to fight bis bosses and their armies with 19 of your friends.
A big and complex feature will be the PvP live arena where you will be able to fight other players in realtime.
We hope you like Waraxe and will receive it with an open mind just as you did with our other games. Please take an active part on the forums and in the chatroom. Also big thanks to Elaine for setting up a Waraxe Wiki.
Good luck in conquering the Realms of Tygoria!
