well, it is said that one of possible translations for 'far cry' is 'not even close', so it can also be assumed that it is 'not even close to one's expectation' hence in Indonesian, 'jauh panggang dari api'. I see. I've never heard of it before. I'm not that well-versed in Indonesian idioms. Guess

i always confuse use don't and not don't use for verb and not use for adj ? is that right ? Do/does is a verb word. So yes, they're mostly used for verbs. Not can be used for both adjective and adverb.
