Divorced & Dying The Mafia Boss Regrets Everything Chapter 01
Grace Santoro severed three of her own fingers to save Dominic O'Ryan from the gunman's crosshairs.
Since then, she has never been able to hold the gun steady again.
That year, the O'Ryan family fell from power, and Dominic was hunted down by all of New York; everyone wanted nothing to do with him.
Sienna Reed, the woman he loved dearly, betrayed him and fled to Europe.
No one expected that the one who would ultimately come to the rescue would be the sole heir to his arch rival, the Santoro Syndicate.
Compelled by the debt of gratitude he owed to the three fingers and the gun pressed against his temple, Dominic readily signed the marriage contract.
After they got married, Dominic continued to hand over his “protection money” as usual, but every woman he was keeping on the side looked exactly like Sienna Reed.
Grace kept her eyes half closed, swallowing her anger again and again.
Everyone thought that forcing things would yield good results.
Just as she was about to announce her retirement from the family business, Dominic knelt down in front of everyone, holding Sienna—who was covered in injuries—and, with tears in his eyes, begged her to spare him.
“Sienna had her reasons back then. Please let her off the hook—I’m begging you.”
Now, all of New York is making fun of Grace Santoro.
But this time, Grace didn’t make a fuss; she just let people look down on her and write her off.
Anyway, she didn't have long to live.
A few days ago, the test results for the tumor in her brain came back: it was malignant.
The doctor gave her a grim prognosis: she wouldn't live more than three months.
Without telling anyone, Grace signed the form refusing the surgery.
Afterward, she handed the divorce agreement to Dominic as casually as if she were asking him to sign some inconsequential dock contract, a hint of relief in her voice.
“Dominic, I’m giving you back the freedom you wanted.”
Dominic frowned as he scanned the black and white text, his whole demeanor radiating a clear reluctance to get involved:
“Go ahead, what are your terms this time?”
“No terms.”
Dominic let out a bitter laugh; his eyes grew even redder and more intense, and even his voice took on a pleading tone:
“Grace, I’m begging you, stop messing with me.”
“Would you really be so kind as to let me off?”
With that, he tore the agreement into pieces, one by one, and flung them forcefully in Grace’s face.
Grace stood there, enduring the burning pain on her face; she didn’t flinch, letting him take it all out on her.
After fighting for so many years, even letting go was seen as a ploy.
Once the paper scraps had all fallen to the ground, she looked intently into Dominic’s eyes, then glanced at the woman he was shielding behind him, and suddenly smiled.
“Since you’re afraid I’m bluffing, you name your terms. All I want is a divorce.”
Dominic stared intently at her.
Sienna’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she tugged at Dominic’s sleeve and looked timidly at Grace.
“…Miss Santoro, I—I’ve made a mistake. Please don’t let anyone hit me anymore…”
Dominic gently pulled her into his arms, held her hand tightly, and looked at Grace, his eyes filled with ferocity:
“Get out of here!”
Grace turned her face away and let out a soft laugh, so he wouldn’t see the deep sadness in her eyes.
She used to think that if she kept someone tied to her side, even the hardest heart would eventually soften.
The fact is, she was completely wrong.
“Be on time for the board meeting in three days.”
With that, she let her smile fade, cast a brief glance at the two of them, and turned to leave without looking back.
