He Married My Sister The Day I Died Chapter 01
The day my sister, Isolde Waverly, took my place in the bridal car, Callahan Thorne received a call from the hospital about my overdue bill.
"Mr. Thorne, Ms. Waverly’s medical bills are overdue. If we don’t receive payment today, we’ll have to suspend her treatment."
Callahan gave a low chuckle, his voice edged with mockery. "Tell Marielle to stop putting on a show. Even if she died today, I'd still marry Izzy."
After he hung up, I watched the nurse switch off my ventilator.
Less than a minute later, she spoke quietly. "Time of death: October 10, 2025."
That day became the day I died—and the day Callahan got married.

"Cal, want me to look into it? I’ll find out which hospital has the nerve to cut off treatment for someone under your protection," one of his groomsmen offered.
Callahan shook his head, his expression cold. "Don't bother. It’s just another one of Marielle’s attention-seeking stunts.
"Ever since the accident, she’s been pretending she has ALS and begging for treatment money.
"I’ve had Izzy check on her every day. None of it is real."
The groomsman opened his mouth to reply, but Callahan's sharp gaze silenced him; his tone grew even colder. "I made it clear to Marielle after the accident.
"Even if I’m marrying Izzy because of a family arrangement, I'll still take care of Marielle for life.
"No one gets to mistreat someone under my family’s protection.
"Stopping treatment? That's ridiculous!"
As he spoke, his eyes softened when they fell on Isolde in the wedding car.
I hovered nearby, watching the tenderness in his eyes. A bitter ache spread through me.
What Callahan didn't know was that from the moment he agreed to let Isolde replace me as his bride, my own family had transferred me to another hospital.
My parents cared more about the Waverly-Thorne alliance and the status and power it would bring them. So when Isolde arranged the transfer behind Callahan's back, they supported her completely.
They left me at the hospital with no treatment or care, leaving my condition untreated until my nervous system deteriorated beyond repair.
At first, Callahan never missed a visit, no matter how busy he was. When he couldn't come, he'd at least call.
Everything changed the day his mother, Lenora Thorne, stood beside my hospital bed and made him break off our engagement.
"Callahan, marrying a girl like this would humiliate our family.
"She can't be a proper wife or bear children. We don’t carry dead weight."
I still remembered how my face burned with shame that day. So when I heard Isolde would replace me, I even felt a hint of relief.
But now, seeing Isolde wearing the wedding dress made for me, wearing the ring he had designed for me, a sharp pain spread through my chest.
Callahan and Isolde raised their glasses, smiling as guests cheered.
Someone called out, "Congratulations, Cal! May you and Mari have a long, happy life together and start a family soon!"
The room went quiet for a second.
A flash of annoyance passed behind Isolde's eyes, though she kept smiling. "I'll look after Cal for Mari. And we hope to start a family soon."
The guests quickly recovered and started cheering again, but Callahan's expression remained cold.
He turned and murmured to someone nearby, "Go check on Marielle at the hospital."
Noticing his expression shift, Isolde asked cautiously, "Cal, is something wrong?"
He smiled softly and took her hand. "Everything's fine. We talked about trying for a baby, remember?"
The blush on her face felt like a knife twisting in me. Even as a ghost, the warmth in his eyes made me feel like I was choking.
I wanted to escape, but the man he had sent out came rushing back, voice tense. "Cal, they say Marielle was transferred weeks ago. She's gone!"
"What did you say?!"
