The Day I Agreed To Divorce Chapter 01
When my husband's first love and I were trapped in a fire, he chose to save me first—his pregnant wife.
But by the time he went back, she was gone. He regretted it.
He said I slowed him down.
Blamed me for everything.
He even forbade our daughter, Mia Kaufman, from calling him Dad.
“Grace Parrish, if you hadn’t used the baby to force me, I would’ve saved her first.”
Even Mia turned on me.
“If you hadn’t killed Kiana, Dad wouldn’t hate me!”
Six years later, the time machine was finally invented.
He was determined to go back and save his first love.
After years of their blame and resentment, I made my choice.
I was going back too.
This time, I’d save myself.
And I’d never owe Antonio Kaufman anything again.

The dizziness from the time machine finally faded, and a scorchin’ hot wave hit me right away.
I opened my eyes, and there was Antonio, standin’ in front of me with his lips pressed tight.
He glanced at me, then ran straight to Kiana Lester, who’d fallen on the ground.
I panicked, dashed through the roar of the flames, fightin’ just to stay alive.
I was almost out when Antonio ran past me, carryin’ Kiana. She panicked and pushed me back into the fire.
I fell to the floor, and a cupboard came crashin’ down on me.
After a searin’ wave of pain, I fought through the heat, pushed the cupboard off me, and slowly crawled out of the fire.
When I finally got to safety, I coughed so hard my chest hurt. Antonio walked over, lookin’ at me with those cold eyes of his.
“So you can escape all on your own, huh? You stayed in the fire just to pressure me into pickin’ you over Kiana, didn’t you?”
Even with the scorchin’ heat, his stare sent a chill down my spine.
He had no idea I’d come back in the time machine too.
“You’re gonna run to my parents and tell ’em all this, aren’t you? Fine. But leave Kiana out of it—or don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
I touched my stomach without thinkin’, then said calmly, “Antonio, let’s get a divorce.”
He froze, starin’ at me. After a second, he snapped, “I ain’t in the mood for your jokes.”
“I’m serious. Let’s divorce.”
Last life, Antonio’s biggest regrets were not savin’ Kiana first in the fire, and marryin’ me ’cause his parents pressured him.
I wasn’t gonna go down that road again. So I’d help him fix those regrets.
Antonio glared at me, his voice rough: “I know what you’re doin’. You wanna make a big scene so my parents hate Kiana even more.”
“But marriage ain’t no game. I don’t wanna hear you joke about divorce again. C’mon—I’ll take you to the hospital to get checked out good.”
He held out his hand to help me up, his cold look warnin’ me to cut the crap.
My stomach hit with a sharp pain. I lifted my arm to take his hand, but Kiana grabbed his first.
“Antonio, Casey’s not feelin’ good—probably inhaled too much smoke. Can you take us to a pet clinic?”
Antonio saw Kiana cryin’, all worried, and nodded right away.
But then he remembered me, and turned around.
Kiana followed his gaze, then begged, “Grace, since you only got minor injuries, can you wait here a minute? Casey means everything to me.”
Casey was a parrot Antonio had given Kiana.
“I’ll call an ambulance for you. Once I’m done there, I’ll come see you at the hospital.”
I nodded. “OK. Go on, leave.”
Surprise flickered in Antonio’s eyes, but he saw how anxious Kiana was, so he didn’t say nothin’ more. He drove her to the clinic.
Once they were gone, I shook as I pulled open my coat. My dress was soaked in blood.
By the time the ambulance got there, they rushed me to the operating room. The doctor finished checkin’ me out, his face serious.
“Ms. Parrish, you got here too late. I’m sorry, but we couldn’t save your baby.”
