The Brother I Was Never Allowed To Marry Chapter 01

When I leaned in to kiss Theodore, he just pushed me away again.
"Catalina, I've taken care of you like a sister since we were kids," he said.
"A sister is a sister, and she can never be a wife."
He kept a perfectly straight face.
But even as he lectured me with complete seriousness, the lipstick mark I'd left on his neck was still glaringly obvious.
I sat obediently beside him, my gaze dropping past his waist to where he had a very visible erection.
Theodore and I had been engaged for three months, but our relationship had actually gone backward.
It was all because of his good friend, Ivan Claxton, who just had to point out, "You practically raised her yourself. How is this any different from marrying your biological sister?"
The truth was, Theodore really had raised me.
When I was a toddler, my very first word was "Theo."
My parents had essentially abandoned me.
They were always away, rushing around somewhere else, with no time to care for me.
My nanny couldn't have cared less, figuring her only job was to make sure I didn't literally starve to death.
One day, while visiting my house, Theodore found me sitting on the filthy floor.
The baby bottle in my arms was ice-cold, and the milk inside had gone sour.
The nanny's neglect was so severe that I was in real danger.
I never spoke.
My family assumed I had a cognitive disability, never once suspecting that I was severely depressed.
Theodore took pity on me and simply brought me back to the Bucknell's mansion to take care of me himself.
He ended up raising me for years.
Since our families had always maintained a strong relationship, an arranged marriage between us seemed like the natural next step.
Theodore and I always ate together, slept in the same room, exactly like we did when we were kids.
That was, until Ivan's comment snapped Theodore back to reality.
It kept him up at night.
Consumed by intense guilt over our physical intimacy, he immediately moved out of our bedroom and started sleeping on the couch.
If he caught me walking around the house in a camisole, he'd forcefully look away.
He constantly repeated that a sister couldn't be a wife.
He started covering himself up completely, wearing thick layers of clothing, acting like he was swearing off any sexual contact with me for the rest of his life.
It honestly made me start doubting my own attractiveness.
Desperate to get his attention back, I dressed up specifically for him today, even using padding to make my cleavage more noticeable.
Playing the role of the devoted fiancée, I brought lunch to his office—fully intending to seduce him right there at his desk.
I casually brushed my hand against his.
When I leaned in, I let my hair sweep across his cheek.
Thanks to those deliberate little moves, Theodore got incredibly turned on.
We were right in the middle of making out when he abruptly stopped and shoved me away, repeating that same nonsense about how a sister couldn't become a wife.
If he really meant that, he wouldn't have been so visibly aroused.
Catching my downward glance, Theodore flushed red with embarrassment and anger.
He pointed straight at the door. "Get out," he said, his voice low and hoarse.
