You can enter the race with whatever you've got, but that doesn't mean you should. A slow car makes the whole thing harder than it needs to be, and a twitchy one can ruin you on the tighter bends. The Dinka Jester is a solid pick if you can get your hands on one. It's quick, but more importantly, it doesn't fight you every time the road turns. The route takes you through South Los Santos, with blue checkpoints pulling you into corners, alleys, and busy stretches of road. Miss one turn, hit a curb badly, and suddenly the pack is gone.

Use Franklin's ability without feeling guilty
Franklin's driving skill is made for this sort of mission, so use it. Really, don't save it for some perfect moment that never comes. Tap into it before a sharp corner, when traffic blocks the lane, or when another racer leans into you and tries to push you wide. It slows the chaos down just enough to keep your line clean. That matters more than raw speed here. A clean race usually beats a wild one. You'll be tempted to floor it through every section, but sometimes easing off for half a second saves you from smashing into a van and losing first place.

Why this race matters
Winning Shift Work isn't only about the prize money. The real reward is access. Beat Hao's race and you unlock more street races across Los Santos and Blaine County, which matters if you're working toward 100 percent completion. It also gives Franklin a bit of credibility in a city full of people who think they're the best behind the wheel.
