My Husband Was Outside When I Kissed My Boss Chapter 01
Our new boss, Vincent Hamden, showed up today.
He stopped right in front of me, “Can I come inside now?”
Back when we used to share that tiny bed, he’d hold me close.
His warm breath would brush my skin, and he’d beg me over and over again, “Can I come inside now?”
That was the exact line he used the most.
Everyone turned to stare at me.
I froze up.
Vincent was way taller than me. He looked right past my face—expression totally blank—and gestured to the space behind me. “Excuse me, can you step aside?”
It hit me then. I was blockin’ half the doorway.
My face flushed all over again, and I practically jumped out of his way.
Vincent gave me a polite nod, then strolled into the CEO’s office—no emotion at all, not even a flicker.
I headed to the breakroom to make some coffee.
Did he recognize me?
Was that line on purpose? Or just some weird coincidence?
I caught my reflection in the glass cabinet door.
Starin’ back was a plain, totally unremarkable thirty-three-year-old woman. I had a short, blunt bob that hit my ears, barely any makeup, and thick black glasses.
I’d been dragged out to the hall mid-receipt review, so I was still wearin’ those frayed fabric sleeve protectors—they hung loose on my arms.
Compared to the carefree girl I was on that impulsive trip a few years back? I was a whole different person.
It was just a coincidence, I told myself finally.
