My Cat Strayed–To Another Woman Chapter 01
"Hey, you're not going to back out, are you?"
My demi-feline, Kael, looked at me with a worried expression, a trace of disgust flashing across his delicate, beautiful features.
"Old woman, if you don't agree to sell me to Lilith, tomorrow I'll go out and tell everyone that you're a treacherous demihuman shop owner!
The customer clearly bought the item, yet you refuse to ship it!"
Kael started throwing a tantrum again. His breathtakingly beautiful face twisted in anger as he swept everything off the table and onto the floor.
This included a Christmas snow globe I had spent hundreds of thousands to buy from abroad.
It was one of my favorite decorations.
I frowned at Kael. He was my favorite demihuman, and my boyfriend in name.
Kael was a delicate and noble feline demihuman. His handsome face was strikingly androgynous, possessing both a boy's heroic spirit and a girl's charming naivety, and his slightly upturned cat eyes had completely won my heart.
It was precisely because of his outstanding appearance that I had spent half a million to win him at an auction in the black market.
When I first brought him home, Kael was covered in injuries. There wasn't a single patch of intact skin on his body, and his hands and feet were bound by heavy iron chains, rendering him immobile.
Yet even so, he still bared his fangs at me, and even scratched my hand when I was unlocking his shackles.
I held back my temper because of that beautifully androgynous face; after all, it had been a long time since I encountered a face I liked this much.
I carefully bathed him, brushed his fur, and dressed him up, raising him to be arguably the most pampered and beautiful demihuman in the entire district.
But Kael seemed to have been spoiled rotten by me. Not only did he treat me with cold indifference on a daily basis, but he also absolutely forbade me from having any physical intimacy with him.
I thought this was just the aloofness unique to feline demihuman, looking down on everyone, so I always accommodated him in every way and showered him with endless love.
I had many scratch marks on my body left by Kael, but I just took them as his unique little temper tantrums, harmless in the grand scheme of things.
But ever since Lilith, that impoverished girl, came to the shop, I saw Kael submissively lower his head to let her rub his ears for the first time, his face even showing a hint of cautious flattery.
Lilith was overjoyed, even reaching out to pinch his cheeks and squeeze his mouth.
Kael reveled in it.
From then on, I finally understood: it wasn't that he couldn't bow his head, he just refused to bow it to me.
Lilith immediately slammed the table and declared she wanted to buy Kael. Kael was so thrilled that his tail swished wildly, his eyes sparkling with fragmented light.
But I kept my composure and told Lilith, "This demihuman is my boyfriend. He's not for sale, I'm sorry."
Lilith pestered me relentlessly, insisting I name a price. I had no choice but to say, "If I absolutely have to put a price on him, it would be at least one million."
Hearing this figure, Lilith left in disappointment. After all, in her cheap, faded shirt and worn jeans, she hardly looked like someone who could afford such a price.
Kael, however, came to resent me over this incident. If he had merely been cold to me before, now he displayed nothing but naked disgust.
What he didn't know was that buying him had cost me half a million, and his daily wardrobe, fur grooming, dietary needs, and other expenses had long since exceeded the remaining half million.
