Hunza Valley — a dream destination that finally came true, here is the full story
So here is the story bro... Hunza Valley has been on my travel bucket list for a long time. The photos circulating on the internet about Attabad Lake, the green valley surrounded by Karakoram mountains, and Rakaposhi visible from the main road were enough to make anyone curious. But like many dream destinations there was always a reason to postpone it. This year the opportunity finally came and I took it without thinking twice. Preparation for the trip to Hunza turned out to be more straightforward than I imagined. Access through Karakoram Highway is now much better than its previous reputation that used to make people hesitant. What actually required more serious research was the accommodation choice because quality varies significantly and the staying experience can greatly affect the entire trip. After quite extensive research about best hotels in Hunza I finally chose a Grace Hospitality property. The consideration was simple. Strategic location to access the main points in the valley, consistently positive guest reviews about service, and most importantly the room view that did not disappoint. The decision turned out to be right. The view of Rakaposhi from the property in the morning is one of the best things I have ever experienced in any trip. Staff who understand the needs of travelers who come for nature exploration rather than just staying made a significant difference in how we planned each day. The highlights of the trip were of course Attabad Lake which is bluer than all the photos I had ever seen. Altit Fort and Baltit Fort provided historical context that made the surrounding natural scenery feel more meaningful. And afternoon walks in Karimabad with a backdrop of snow capped mountains is something difficult to describe in words. What I did not anticipate was how much the choice of accommodation affected the overall experience. In a destination like Hunza where scenery is the main product the location and orientation of the property determines whether you wake up motivated to explore or just going through the day. For those who have Hunza Valley on their bucket list do not postpone anymore. And for those who have already been there which spots do you think are the most underrated and should not be missed?
