He Didn't Regret It Until I Was Gone Chapter 01

I went blind for him. He said he'd protect me forever. But he was the one who did it. On purpose.
Then he shared me. Filmed it. Let everyone watch. While I still loved him.
The day I got my sight back, I saw everything.
But I didn't cry. I just left. Without a word.
Now he's going crazy trying to find me.
Too late.
Chapter 1
I volunteered to be Caleb’s practice dummy, just so he could get better at dry needling.
But something went wrong. I lost my sight—and he swore he’d take care of me for the rest of my life.
I believed him. I trusted him. I gave him everything.
Later, I pushed myself through treatment, day after day. When my vision finally came back, I wanted to surprise him.
Instead, I heard something that destroyed me.
One of his friends laughed. “That blind girl? She’s hot as hell. If she ever finds out the guy sleeping with her wasn’t even you, she’d go crazy.”
I froze. My whole body went cold.
I tried to leave quietly, but I made a sound. The next second, someone grabbed me and slammed me onto a desk.
At Caleb’s signal… they did whatever they wanted.
When I woke up, my body hurt everywhere. I covered my mouth, crying so hard I couldn’t breathe, and made one call.
“Professor Gifford… about that study abroad program… I’ll go.”
“Cale, you’re really letting us have a girl like her? She’s obsessed with you. And damn, she’s one of the hottest girls on campus.”
Caleb sounded bored. Like I meant nothing.
“A blind girl like that? Just something to pass time. It was fun at first. Then it got old. Might as well let you guys enjoy it too. She still has no idea I made her blind on purpose. It’s honestly pathetic.”
He tapped the desk, like he was thinking.
“Don’t forget—same as before. Record everything and send it to me. The guys outside are waiting too.”
He paused, then added casually, “Laney’s coming back soon. I’m breaking up with Nina anyway. So enjoy today. You won’t get another chance like this.”
My chest felt like it was being crushed. I could barely breathe.
So this wasn’t the first time.
And I was the only one who didn’t know.
They all burst out laughing. “All hail Cale!”
I clenched my fists so tight my nails dug into my skin. But that pain was nothing compared to what I felt inside.
Caleb and I had known each other since we were kids. After his parents died, I stayed with him through everything.
We fell in love. Or at least… I thought we did.
We’d been together three years. During that time, we were intimate everywhere—classrooms, rooftops, empty halls.
He said it excited him. Said it gave him a rush.
So I kept saying yes. Kept trying to make him happy.
I thought it was just his thing.
I never imagined… it was because it made it easier for other people to join in.
And easier for him to film everything.
And the worst part?
The man I loved… blinded me on purpose.
That happened three years ago. He had just failed an exam and got torn apart by his professor.
I found him alone on the rooftop, drinking like he didn’t care about anything anymore.
It broke my heart.
So I told him… I’d help him practice.
He held my hands so tight and said, “Nini, I’ll never forget this.”
We practiced again and again. Nothing went wrong.
Until one day… everything went dark.
I panicked. I asked him what happened.
He said it was an accident.
He promised he’d fix it.
From then on, he became my “eyes.”
Everyone said I was lucky to have a boyfriend like him.
Only now did I realize…
it was all fake.
Every bit of it.
I suddenly remembered something.
The first time we were together on the rooftop…
In that moment, he called out another girl’s name.
Delaney.
I turned to leave.
But the keychain on my bag fell, making a sound.
“Nini? When did you get here? Why didn’t you say anything?”
Caleb grabbed my hand, trying to pull me inside.
I struggled. I tried to get away.
Then everything went black again.
When I woke up, my body was covered in marks.
I broke down completely.
My hands shook as I called Professor Gifford.
“I’ll go. I’ll join the program.”
“That’s great news. You’ve recovered, but it won’t be easy. You’ll be in the lab for a long time. Can you handle it?”
“Yes.”
I didn’t hesitate. Not for a second.
“I’ll pick you up at the airport in three days,” she said.
The first time she offered me this chance… I hesitated.
But now?
Caleb made the decision for me.
Right then, a video popped up in my chat with him.
I clicked it.
And my whole world shattered again.
The woman in the video…
was me.
Naked.
