Sent Me Away Chapter 01
I married Jonathon Anderson to repay a debt on behalf of my half-sister, Maddison Stafford.
One act of saving his entire family demanded three years of my marriage in return.
On our wedding night, he grabbed my chin, disgust filling his eyes. "Remember this. You're just Maddison's shadow. A tool to pay off a debt."
Outside my bedroom, he even made a bet with his friends—betting on how obedient he could train me, like a dog.
The prize was Maddison's favorite sports car.
Later, I overheard his call with Maddison. He laughed and said, "When I get tired of her, I'll tie her up with a bow and send her to Mr. Horne's bed, so she can 'pay off' the debt once and for all."
That was when I realized the so-called repayment was a carefully planned game of cruelty from the very start.

On our wedding night, Jonathon dragged me off the bed.
He yanked me by the hair and hauled me out of the bedroom, treating me like a dead person.
The icy marble floor burned with cold, seeping straight into my bones.
On the couch sat his friends and his mother, Claudia Anderson.
They watched me the way people watch an entertaining circus act.
A polished leather shoe came down hard on the back of my hand, grinding against my fingers.
Jonathon looked down at me and laughed at his friends. "See? This is the tool paying off my future wife's debt."
Claudia lifted her teacup and snorted. "If it weren't for that so-called favor your family did back then, someone like you wouldn't even be fit to stand at our doorstep."
Just then, a sharp ringtone cut through the room. Jonathon took out his phone.
Maddison's name flashed on the screen. The violence on his face melted instantly, replaced by a tenderness I had never once received.
As soon as the video call connected, Maddison's soft, sweet voice came through. "Jonty, is Bekah settling in? Don't be too hard on her."
His voice turned indulgent. "Don't worry. I'm taking very good care of her."
When the call ended, all warmth vanished from his face, leaving only cold contempt.
In front of everyone, he announced clearly, word by word, "I bet that within three months, I'll have her obeying me like a dog. She'll kneel and lick my shoes.
"And the stake is that limited-edition car Maddy loves."
Laughter erupted around me, sharp and cruel, piercing my skin like needles.
I bit down on my lip until the taste of blood spread through my mouth.
I thought of my parents holding my hands before I left, begging me to endure no matter what for three years, to repay the Anderson family for saving their lives.
So this was the price of gratitude.
To prove his point, Jonathon kicked a dog bowl filled with cold leftovers.
He said, "Bark once, and you get a bite."
Late that night, I was locked in the living room, curled up on the floor, shivering uncontrollably.
The bedroom door hadn't been fully closed. Jonathon's voice drifted through the narrow gap, low and gentle in a way I had never heard before. "Maddy, don't rush. I'll get rid of her soon.
"When I'm done with her, I'll tie her up with a bow and send her to Mr. Horne's bed, so she can 'pay off' the debt once and for all. Our wedding is what really matters."
