Seven Years To Lose You Chapter 01

On the last night with Julian Thorne, he went completely wild.
Audrey Miller brushed against the ring on his finger by accident.
She recalled the rumors she'd heard a few days ago: Julian was about to marry the heiress of the Williams Group.
Sensing her distraction, Julian lowered his head and gave her an affectionate kiss.
While she was lost in the moment, he slipped a bank card into her lingerie.
"I'm getting married next month. Let's end our relationship here."
Audrey nodded obediently. "Okay."
Seeing that she didn't cry or make a scene, Julian frowned instead. "Are you alright?"
Audrey gave a faint smile and shook her head. "I'm fine."
She was often heartbroken for trivial matters before, but now she changed.
All people around them knew that Audrey loved Julian to the point of madness.
She had been chasing after him since she was eighteen.
Upon graduation, she joined The Thorne Group and became his secretary. They are partners by day, lovers by night.
In danger, she shielded him in front; at drinking parties, she drank in his place.
She always carried three notebooks detailing his preferences in her bag. Once he gave a glance to her, she would respond instantly.
She had stayed by his side without a title for seven years. She endured all people's mocking.
Finally, people's attitude toward her changed. They started to bless her.
No one believed she could just stand by and watch him marry another woman.
Even Julian didn't believe it.
But what they didn't know was that just a week ago, Audrey had agreed to her parents' request to go back home for a blind date.

She first met Julian when she was eighteen.
She received a call from her mother: "Audrey, your father was in a car accident. He's in the ER being resuscitated. It's very serious. Come home quickly to see him one last time."
Audrey's mind went blank. She rushed out in a panic and was hit by Julian's car.
Fortunately, Julian slammed on the brakes in time. She wasn't seriously injured, so she scrambled up and limped toward the hospital.
Julian held her back. After asking for the reason, he made a phone call and personally drove her to the hospital.
When they arrived, the hospital director hurriedly led a professional team into the operating room, pulling her father back from the brink of death.
Audrey hugged her mother, shedding tears of joy. Through her tears, she saw Julian standing not far away, quietly thanking the director.
Only then did Audrey realize that he was the one who had summoned the director.
In that instant, the young man with the cold, sharp features standing in the light seemed like a god descending into her world.
At first, Audrey just wanted to thank him, so she followed him, doing whatever within her capability.
After graduation, she joined The Thorne Group. An accidental intimacy made her become his personal secretary.
Her feelings gradually shifted, and amidst his occasional tenderness, a greed she shouldn't have harbored began to grow.
Until a month ago, Julian suddenly turned cold toward her.
Anxious and hesitant, she waited until after they had sex one time to ask him carefully, "Mr. Thorne, did I do something wrong?"
Julian's sharp brows furrowed. It took him a long moment to say, "I'm getting a bit bored."
Audrey's face went pale. Under his indifferent gaze, she fled in a panic.
That very day, Julian went abroad on a business trip.
For the first time ever, he didn't take his personal secretary with him.
The next day, she heard the rumors about his marriage with Tiffany Williams.
When Julian returned a week later, there was a wedding ring on his finger.
That was when she knew: all sweet dreams eventually come to an end. It was time to part ways with Julian.
Julian had already left, gifting her the apartment they had lived in for seven years.
Audrey immediately contacted an agent to list the property.
The apartment was in a prime location, and she had set the price well below market value.
The agent pushed it as a top listing, and that very evening, someone came to view it and put down a deposit.
After the contract was signed, the agent beamed enthusiastically. "Ms. Miller, the buyer is paying in full. We should be able to close the deal in about a week."
Audrey paused for a moment, then nodded with a smile. "Alright. Thank you."
After seeing the agent out, she began packing up her belongings.
The lucky horseshoe on the shoe cabinet was something she had placed there the day she moved in.
Julian had laughed, saying she is money-obsessed, but the moment she turned around, he had pressed her against the cabinet and devoured her lips with a hungry kiss.
He had nibbled on her earlobe, his husky voice thick with amusement. "Praying to that thing? You'd be better off praying to me."
The rug in the living room was something he had spotted in a mall while they were on a business trip overseas.
He bought it on the spot, and it took over two weeks to be shipped across the ocean to their home.
As soon as she unwrapped the rug, he started unwrapping her clothes, a glint of playful intent in his eyes. "The moment I saw it, I knew it would be great to sleep on."
The armchair in the corner was where he had once shown a rare gentleness, holding her while she was sick and comforting her.
The razor in the bathroom was the first gift she had ever given him; he had used it for years.
On the title page of Business Strategy on the far left of the bookshelf was a sketch of her, drawn by him on a whim with just a few strokes.
Seven years.
It really was a long time.
Long enough that a man as noble and aloof as Julian had left unforgettable memories with her in every single corner of this house.
Audrey packed and discarded as she went, but in the end, amidst the chaotic mess on the floor, she broke down and sobbed uncontrollably.
