Pictures, it is a sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), and will serve as the sixth Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio[a] and the sixth film in the Monsterverse franchise, as well as the 40th film in the Godzilla franchise and 14th film in the King Kong franchise.
