My Ashes Made Him Mad Chapter 01
My husband intended to once again pin his widow sister-in-law’s charge on me In the second year after my death.
With his lawyer at his side, he kicked open the door of the basement studio I once rented, only to find no one inside.
Frowning, Reginald summoned the building's property manager and coldly demanded to know where I was.
The woman looked him up and down, then sighed. "Graciella? That poor girl's been gone for two years now."
Reginald didn't believe it for a second. He smirked and pulled out a formal indictment.
The studio owner had had enough. He blocked the doorway. "She died in a fire, man. What are you even doing here, collecting debts from a ghost?"

"Tell Graciella to cut the act." Reginald narrowed his eyes, a flicker of mockery dancing in them. "Back then, for Angeline's sake, I made her take the fall for that construction disaster. I know she's bitter about her hand getting wrecked and getting blacklisted. And this fake-death stunt? It's all just a scheme to grab more company stock.
"Tell her if she doesn't show up at the Legal Department by eight tomorrow morning, I'm cutting off the imported meds for her sister in the ICU!"
The owner stared at him like he was insane. "Stop acting like some righteous big shot now! The night Graciella passed away, her sister died of organ failure because her medication was stopped."
Losing patience, Reginald kicked the door open.
Covering his nose and mouth, he stepped into the cramped basement with a look of pure disgust.
"Graciella! The district attorney's office is about to take Lina in. Get your ass out here!"
Three years ago, when the unfinished building scandal that rocked the industry made headlines, he blackmailed me with my sister's life, forcing me to take the fall for Angeline.
He said he owed his brother, Corbin Galloway, and couldn't let Angeline rot in jail.
That was the day he and I were done.
I never thought he'd come looking for me just to save Angeline's skin again.
Watching him rage, I couldn't help but laugh. He could go to any length for Angeline.
Reginald didn't find me. His frustration boiled over. "She's a disgraced nobody. Where's she gonna run? She'll come crawling back.
"Lina is sick from the stress. You just can't stand to see her do well, can you? You have to destroy her!
"Tear it apart! Smash all this junk. Let's see how long she can hide."
The bodyguards swarmed in, smashing everything to pieces—the architectural models I had spent countless sleepless nights creating, and the paintings my mother had left me.
Desperate, I lunged at them, wailing as I tried to shield my mother's legacy. Yet, my fingers clutched at nothing but the freezing air.
I shrieked right in Reginald's ear. "Stop! Reginald, tell them to stop! I'm dead in the fire!"
But he just stood there coldly, grinding the wreckage under his heel. "You brought this on yourself, Graciella."
Trembling with anger, the studio owner shouted, "This is breaking and entering! I'm calling the cops! Graciella had her leg broken when she was pushed off a roof, and days later, she was caught in that warehouse fire. When her body was pulled out, it was burnt beyond recognition! It was on the news! Who are you to her? Why must you keep hounding her even after she's gone?"
