My brother had hated me for seven years.
The last time we fought, I stormed out in a rage on a stormy night and accidentally fell into the river. When I woke up, my memories were completely jumbled.
In the hospital, he looked visibly relieved. He pointed casually at a terminally ill patient and said coldly:
“That’s your real brother. Stop bothering me.”
The pale-faced man walked over, gently stroked my head, and said softly:
“Come on. Brother’s taking you home.”
After that, I threw myself into saving my “brother,” who was battling a terminal illness. I stayed up through countless sleepless nights taking care of him, and I even risked my own life fighting through the blizzard to get a renowned doctor to help him.
In the freezing snow and ice, my real brother finally stopped me, his voice trembling with panic:
“Have you… really forgotten me?”

When the doctor diagnosed me with memory confusion, I had just woken up in my hospital bed.
Falling from a great height into the river had caused a severe concussion, leaving me in a coma for over half a month.
Half a month ago, I had a huge fight with my brother, Julian Vance.
As I slammed the door on my way out, I yelled angrily:
"Even if I die, I don't want you to collect my body!"
Julian's face twisted in fury, and he sneered behind me:
"Then I hope you get your wish."
And now, half a month later, I was still alive.
Opening my eyes, the early winter sunlight streamed in through the hospital window.
After a long moment of blurry vision, my hearing finally returned.
Outside the ward, I heard the doctor talking to Julian.

"Not to mention forgetting friends and family, she might not even remember herself..."
I struggled out of bed, wanting to go out and explain that my memory was perfectly fine.
I hated being in the hospital.
I didn't want to be trapped here any longer just because of this diagnosis.
As I reached the door, I heard Julian's deep, cold voice.
In his tone, there seemed to be something else—an emotion almost resembling joy.
"This... could be a good thing."
As if to confirm the doctor's theory, he added:
"She woke up in a daze last night, looked at me, and asked who I was."
I vaguely recalled waking up briefly last night.
Julian was right.
But at that time, I was just groggy and couldn't see his face clearly, which was why I asked him that.
My hand gripping the doorknob froze for a second.
The doctor spoke comfortingly:
"You don't need to worry. We won't know for sure until your sister wakes up.
"Even if there really is a problem with her memory, we can still..."
Then, Julian cut the doctor off:
"It's good that she forgot. There's no need for her to recover it."
I could even hear a hint of unconcealed delight in his voice.
Did he really want me to forget him that badly?
For so many years, after our parents passed away, we had fought countless times.
But in this world, he was the only family I had left.
I had thought about death ending it all.
Yet now, having narrowly escaped death, I hoped to talk to him again.
I pulled the door open.
I met the gaze outside—momentarily stunned, then quickly turning icy.
Because I had been in a coma for so long.
When I spoke, my voice was a bit hoarse: "Brother, I actually..."
Julian quickly furrowed his brows, looking at me in disbelief.
Soon, as if deceiving himself.
He convinced himself that I had lost my memory and was just mistakenly calling him my brother.
There were many patients coming and going in the hallway.
