Welcome To My Wedding Ex Chapter 01
After the fireworks over the sea died down, Lucas Vance, surrounded by his friends, approached me with a grand, deliberate peace offering, his tone nonchalant.
“I’ve given you all the gestures and social prestige you wanted. You’ve thrown your tantrum long enough. It’s time to come back now, isn’t it?”
Everyone expected me to return to Lucas’s side, just as I had dozens of times before.
Instead, I placed my hands over my stomach and spoke softly.
“I’m preegnant with another man’s child, and I’m getting married next month.
If you don’t wish to come as the groom, you’re still welcome to attend.”
Lucas’s smile froze, then he sneered.
“Threatening me? Emma Bennett, you really are something.
You’d stoop so low as to make up such a ridiculous lie just to force a marriage?”
“Are you truly that desperate to wed?”
Lucas was right. Throughout all our years together, I had brought up marriage to him countless times.
The first time, he told me to wait, promising that once he gained wealth and fame, he would give me the most lavish wedding.
The second time, when I caught him in bed with another woman, he casually pulled his clothes back on and said he wasn’t ready to settle down yet.
The third time, when my grandmother was critically ill, hoping to see me happy before she passed away, he said there was no rush.
From seventeen to twenty-nine, the best years of my life slipped away in endless waiting.
But this time, and only this time, I was not forcing him into marriage.
I was not lying. There truly was another man’s child growing inside me.
Lucas stepped closer, tilting my chin up with a playful smirk.
“Emma, do you crave being my wife that badly?”
People nearby immediately began to jeer.
“Lucas! Your girl has gone this far, what are you still hesitating for?”
“Hurry and start planning the wedding! If she runs off with someone else, you’ll regret it!”
“What nonsense are you speaking? She’s utterly devoted to you.
Even if every other woman in the world left their partners, she never would. After all, she’s chased after you for twelve years!”
“You couldn’t drive her away even if you tried!”
Their sneers cut into me like blades, yet to Lucas, they were sweet music.
He raised his hand to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear, his voice almost tender.
“Baby, look at all the fuss you’ve made. You’ve backed yourself into a corner, haven’t you?”
“You’re almost thirty, yet still so immature. You’d even fabricate a public lie about carrying another man’s child.”
“You have no parents, and even your only grandmother has recently passed away. I've fuccked you raw over the years—who else but me would want you? What other man could ever satisfy you?”
“Be good. We’ll discuss marriage later. You will be Mrs. Vance eventually.
As for those foolish words you just spoke, I can pretend I never heard them.
Go back to the cabin and wait for me. If you keep causing a scene, you’ll annoy everyone around us.”
His words struck me like a slap, shattering the last shred of dignity I had left.
Staring at Lucas’s face inches from mine, all I could see was the seventeen-year-old boy who had once held my hand, eyes bright as he made a solemn promise.
“Emma, with me by your side, no one will ever bully you. I will protect you for the rest of my life.”
That Lucas could never have imagined that at twenty-nine, he would become the person who hurt me most.
I suppressed the bitterness welling in my chest, coldly brushed his hand away, and said,
“I am not lying to you. I really am preenant.
Lucas, have you forgotten?
Two months ago, you were the one who pushed me into another man’s bed.”
