After Being Mistaken For His Girlfriend Chapter 01
That night, while I was staying at my best friend Angeline Thatcher's place, someone walked into my room.
I tried to fight back, but he grabbed my wrists and pinned them over my head.
"It's been a month. Didn't you miss me?" His voice was low and smooth. It made my heart race.
Before I could say anything, he kissed me—hard and sudden.
Right then, Angeline's voice came from outside the door. "Tiff, I'm back."
The man on top of me froze. His voice was almost a whisper. "Who are you?!"
I was shaking. "I'm Tiffany."
"Damn it," he cursed and quickly got off me.
In the dark, he took out his phone and sent a message.
The footsteps outside suddenly stopped.
A second later, Angeline turned and left. I heard the front door close.
I finally let out a breath.
After making sure she was gone, I turned on the bedside lamp.
The room lit up at once.
Kenneth Allen's sharp, handsome face came into view.
He was Angeline's boyfriend.
She told me he was on a business trip and wouldn't be back anytime soon.
But for some reason, he came back tonight.
My clothes were messy, my face burning hot. I grabbed the blanket and backed into the corner of the bed.
When he saw the panic written all over my face, a flicker of regret crossed Kenneth's brow.
"Sorry. You're in Angeline's room, wearing her pajamas. I... thought you were her."
I was still shaken and couldn't speak for a while.
After I calmed down, I said softly, "Yeah, I know. It was just a misunderstanding."
Kenneth and Angeline had been dating for almost a year.
He was cold and reserved and didn't talk a lot.
The few times we ate together, we barely talked.
If I weren't staying here tonight, this wouldn't have happened.
Hearing that, he finally relaxed.
"Thanks," he said.
Then he seemed to remember something and walked to the door.
"I'll go downstairs first. I told her security stopped me at the gate. If she doesn't see me, it'll be a problem."
A little over ten minutes later, Angeline came upstairs, alone.
"Tiff, were you sleeping just now?" she asked.
"Yeah. I was a little tired, so I went to bed early. Did you call me when you got back?"
"Yeah. But Kenneth suddenly came to see me, so I went downstairs."
Hearing his name made me feel a little uneasy.
"Then why didn't he come upstairs?" I asked.
"I told him you've been staying here these past few days. It's late, and he didn't want to make you uncomfortable by coming upstairs alone, so he left."
Seeing how normal Angeline acted, I finally relaxed a bit.
That night, after she fell asleep, I lay awake, tossing and turning.
My mind kept replaying what happened with Kenneth.
His hot breath against my neck and chest.
His warm hands moving along my waist.
His strong body pressed close to mine.
The more I tried to push it away, the clearer it got...
Like a virus taking over my thoughts.
Angeline once said that while Kenneth treated her well, he was distant when it came to that.
But just now... he was anything but distant.
He was intense. Like a starving wolf, ready to swallow me whole.
