Beg Me Forever Chapter 01
Inside the dimly lit bar.
Mason had his arm around a girl who looked strikingly like me, smiling a captivatingly seductive smile.
"Cheer up, everything on the table is yours."
Various limited-edition jewelry and bags were laid out on the table.
The girl glanced at me with a pitiful expression, declining with a whimper.
"Mr. Brooks, you already gave me so much last time. Mrs. Brooks is getting upset."
"Be good, she wouldn't dare."
Right in front of me, Mason lifted the girl's chin with his long fingers and lowered his head to drop a kiss on the corner of her lips.
The people around them started cheering and jeering.
The girl threw herself into Mason' arms, looking even more bashful.
"Mr. Brooks, I won't hide from you anymore."
I watched everything unfold numbly.
Even though it wasn't the first time I had seen such a scene, my heart still felt like it was being pricked by needles, a dense pain spreading wildly.
Taking a few steps forward, my voice already carried a hint of bitterness.
"Mason..."
Mason finally raised an eyebrow and looked at me, his eyes full of mockery: "Is there something you need, Mrs. Brooks?"
Before I could speak.
Someone in the crowd teased: "She's definitely here for money, do you even need to ask?"
"I guess so too. Mrs. Brooks has always treated our Mr. Brooks like an ATM."
These reckless teasing words mercilessly tore away the fig leaf between Mason and me.
After that accident three years ago, the Blackwood family declined and fell into the mud.
Meanwhile, the Brooks family's business boomed.
But the heir of the Brooks family was forced to marry the fallen noble daughter of the Blackwood family, which was inherently a disgraceful matter.
Amidst the crowd's banter, Mason' handsome eyes darkened slightly, watching my awkwardness with cold detachment.
Knowing full well he would be angry, I still whispered.
"Mason, could you... lend me thirty thousand?"
The girl in his arms looked surprised, poking her head out and exclaiming softly.
"No way, for a mere thirty thousand, Mrs. Brooks actually chased you all the way here?"
Just as she wished, Mason' gaze toward me grew even colder.
His long fingers gripped his glass so tightly it seemed he might shatter it.
After a moment, he threw a faint sentence at me.
"You want money, right? Go wait at the door."
I turned around silently and walked out of the private room.
The moment I closed the door, I heard the girl's delicate voice.
"Mr. Brooks, I want the bracelet on her wrist."
Mason replied with an ambiguous tone: "Why do you want that? You're not Mrs. Brooks."
Snowflakes began to fall outside.
I stood numbly under the eaves, the snow hitting my face stinging like a knife.
Playing over and over in my mind were the scenes of Mason and me together over the years.
The Brooks family and the Blackwood family were old family friends.
Mason and I were even bound by an arranged childhood marriage set by our elders when we were very young.
Childhood sweethearts, playing together, going to school together—we used to have such a good relationship.
When did it start to change?
Was it the day I handed him that love letter?
Or was it the day of our wedding?
I still remember our wedding day. Mason stormed into the dressing room, dragged me up from the vanity chair, and demanded:
"What era are we in to still have an arranged childhood marriage? Olivia Blackwood, are you so desperate to marry me that you've lost your mind?"
"Do you really think I'll let you get what you want?"
The moment the wedding ended, he took his mistress abroad to go scuba diving.
For three years of marriage, he successfully made sure I never got what I wanted.
He throwing away fortunes on all sorts of women.
Yet to me, his formally and properly married wife, he was so stingy he wouldn't spare a single dime.
I held the title of Mrs. Brooks, but lived as the biggest joke in our social circle.
