When I Ignored His Love Chapter 01
On our wedding day, my fiancé, Josh Kinley, threw me into a crowd of homeless people.
My brother got into an accident on the way and broke his leg.
My father was so furious that he died of a heart attack.
My mother went insane.
Josh dragged my disheveled self in front of Rhett, a cruel smile curling on his lips.
“You got my sister killed. Now you’re getting what you deserve.”
He didn’t care that I had fainted from crying too much.
He simply walked away without looking back.
To pay for my mother’s and Rhett’s treatment,
I had no choice but to earn money by strip-dancing at the docks.
I never expected to see Josh again—
until three years later, on a ship.

"One more dance, gorgeous!"
The men on the ship threw money at my feet one after another.
Barefoot, I spun across the pile of bills.
From every angle, the exaggerated movements of my dance were visible to the crowd.
I didn't care as I spun mechanically, my flirtatious eyes sweeping over the crowd.
"I like this one. She's beautiful and wild. I'm calling dibs!"
"Please, no one's taking her away from you. She's been dancing here for three years. She'll do anything for money. What a slut!"
I ignored their filthy remarks and glanced down at the money scattered across the floor.
These men were so stingy.
Suddenly, a thick roll of bills landed at my feet.
That was enough to cover three days of Rhett's medication.
It was the first time I had met such a generous customer, so I lifted my head and smiled warmly at him.
Then a familiar face came into view.
My smile froze, but I still asked softly, "Sir, what would you like me to do?"
"Strip," Josh commanded clearly.
I pinched a thin layer of fabric and slowly slid it off.
The movement left plenty to the imagination.
"Is that enough?"
Another wad of cash was thrown at my feet.
He hummed lightly. "Keep going!"
As the final layer of thin fabric slipped away, the curves of my body were revealed.
"Do you like what you see?"
The men on the ship erupted in excitement.
"Keep going!"
"Take it all off!"
More rolled-up bills rained down at my feet, yet his eyes were filled with contempt.
"Take it all off!" he ordered.
My dignity had long since vanished over the past three years.
Working on this ship, I had heard every kind of filthy remark imaginable.
More and more people began throwing money at me.
I pinched the edge of my underwear and looked into Josh's eyes, pausing for a moment.
"Hurry up!"
"You're not scared now, are you?"
"What's the rush? I told you, she's a slut. She'll do anything for money!"
I endured it all, thinking that with this money, I could finally get Rhett a better doctor.
After thinking it through, I reached behind my back and grasped the thin strap.
"Wait!" Josh suddenly said.
My hand froze.
A contemptuous smile spread across his face.
"You'd really do anything for cash. Maybelle Adair, since when did you become such a cheap baik?"
With that, he turned and left.
Was I really a cheap baik?
I didn't know.
Was that why he threw me into that flophouse three years ago?
